I am extraordinarily excited about the delicious baked potato covered with butter and corn I'm about to eat for lunch. Harvested the potato from the thriving plants in our grow bags. Farmer Joe down the street grew the sweet corn on the field below our house last summer, and we froze it. The butter came from the local farm. So my whole lunch originated within two miles of our home.

Oh. Wait. You meant excited about Slate.

Slate is counting on just such an emotional reaction. I've read as much in the correspondence shared & posted here on this forum from Slate representatives.

Knowing that emotions can override logic and often causes me to make bad decisions, I'm trying to be aware of that dynamic and 'curb my enthusiasm' if you will.

But that's just me. :like:

Yea, spot on.

Years ago (2019) I was excited when I sat in a Vokswagon Tarok two-door electric tiny truck at the New York International Auto Show. It was the perfect ride for me. And of course it never happened. My guess is that VW just could not close the business case - deliver it at a price we'd pay.

https://www.vw.com/en/newsroom/future-of-mobility/tarok-concept.html

BTW, the tag on that webpage is hilarious. VW asks "The Volkswagen Tarok concept asks America if it’s ready for a compact pickup revival". VW decided the answer was "no". Ford decided the answer was "yes", and the rest is history.

I'm excited enough to be often looking at other vehicles. As far as I can tell, the Chevy Equinox EV and Hyundai Ioniq 5 are the next cheapest new EVs that could tow my boat (both at $35k)

So if the Slate's MSRP is over $35k, I will ask for my $50 back. 🙂

Who is excited?
I’m excited for this new name company Slate to be built in Indiana. I’m excited for the design to come from a new company that is not one of the Big 3 automakers. I believe the cost versus maintenance and reliability will be quite different for the consumer.

Cooked some burgers on the grill for lunch. Very good, daughter is excited for a late dinner of the same at sunset. Out of corn but do have some watermelon left.

My thoughts went... somewhere else.
