Headlight/Hood Mod Thoughts

I like how the hood cuts off the top of the headlights for a slightly more intimidating look, like a lowered brow on face that's focused or thinking.

I did wonder what it would look like if the headlights were full circles. Here's a 30 second mock up. Looks more spider-like, but I like the original look better.

Just as a topic: Are the lights fully circle when the hood is open? Is this even a potential mod?

They almost ruined the Jeep when they tried that, thank goodness they went back to round ones.

I'm more worried about the usual "blinding other drivers" thing. My old Subaru has pretty low key headlights and I'm used to that. I wonder if there will be a mod to shade the lights a bit so we're not blasting other folks on dark roads. I don't think the Slate is high enough to be a problem when following, though you never know.

I think if your lights are aimed properly you won't blind other drivers.

The reason is because the beams of light from modern headlinghts are designed so they direct light away from oncoming traffic while illuminating the road ahead.

I like 80's cars/trucks, so that's just the style I like. Had them on my 89 Chevy 1500, 88/87 fiero, and 83 Volvo 245.

Oh I had many cars with them, I am a 60’s guy and I like the 7” single lights.

I have opinions about "modern headlights", but I'll try to keep them to myself at the moment. "Aimed" is a huge variable, "properly" is a huge variable, and "ahead" is a huge variable. I regularly have to cover my mirrors with my hand these days, or avert my eyes from ultrabright daytime lights like I'm avoiding looking at the Ark of the Covenant.

A lot of that is aftermarket brighter lights, or lifted pickups, etc. Occasionally I end up with one behind me and when stopped at an intersection, their headlights are above my trunk, shining straight in my rear window. California is supposed to be one of the stricter states on lifts, but it seems enforcement is rare unless it's really crazy or caught among other violations.

Well, I'm not looking forward to the shorter days, because my version of "occasionally" is basically "every other morning"

Whenever someone says "but it's just x outlier or y outlier" I think about how it wouldn't matter hardly as much if the lights weren't as bright as the white-hot fury of a thousand suns in the first place.
