What is wrong
with temporary paper plates?

In Texas we have 7 digit plates.

I admire your expression of being "proactive." There is nothing wrong with running a "Slate" tag on your current ride. When your Slate arrives, you just need to swap the plates, a bit of work but definitely worth it if you want to be first.
