I'm in a two plate state but I'll be happy if they don't pre-drill the plate holes. I'd like to attempt an offset plate-mounting setup like 70s cars had

Ah, back in the day when pedestrians didn't have the right-of-way on our city streets. Life was good!

We lost something as a society when they stopped putting fruit and newspaper stands on the sidewalks.

That's the one! Funnily enough, despite being one of the biggest cliches in movie and TV history it wasn't easy finding a movie screenshot of a 70s car blasting through a fruit stand!

I was all of 11 when I saw that movie as a first run in the theater 1973. I didn't even Goggle it; knew it right off the bat! LOL.

I loved it when they shot the Olds on the Palisades Parkway and the hood flew off. I'll never forget that scene.

That's brilliant. We're stuck with standard steel plates, but they're the printed flat kind so I might be able to get away with double sided taping it.

An alternate plan would be to build an offset mount through one of the fog-light holes, since those are removable covers and probably has some access to the bumper hardware inside:

Bumping this old post with findings from the new video. Looks like Slates will have license plate mounting holes pre-molded into the front bumpers, as seen in one of the demo drive vehicles:

I live in texas and on my last car I just put it in the windshield mounted with suction cups. It was very visible from the front so Cops never bothered me about it.

Some states have specific laws on where and how to mount plates. So that may not fly everywhere.

Wish we didn't have to put front plates on.

I like some states that are rear only.
Me too.

However: when I lived in a rear-plate-only state, the local university prohibited pull-through parking, so that the university police could drive down each row of cars and have their license plate scanners work!

In my current state, a proposal to save millions of dollars by going to single plates only was defeated thanks to pressure from police groups, who opposed it for the same automated license plate scanner reason.

After searching the Internet in 2023
for a rare 2021 Nacho Gladiator
I found one at a dealer in Manheim PA.
They shipped it to me in East Texas
with dealer paper plates
and sent me the title.

DQ86IthnAydz1A-P-xUEnh38EiaPrS-6HgRdHO5odAD8=w2400.webp

My neighbor's German Shepherd Dog
followed the Fedex driver to my house
when I was not home
and took the title back to his house
and tore it up.

I did not know about it
until the neighbor brought
the mangled documents to me.

There was nothing I could do on my end
other than notify the dealer
who mailed me a duplicate title.
COMPLETELY unrelated, but is there a reason you format your posts like poetic prose? I find it super annyoing but more than anything I'm genuinely curious.

My license plate has been my own
For almost thirty years
For now, alas, it needs remain
Tied to my Mazda's gears
If ever, though, my hatchback "3"
Drinks up it's petrol last
My plate, my name, my Slate will bear
Once paper's filed fast

In other words, my personalized plate that bears my name has moved sequentially through the three cars I've purchased new and driven until energetic events not of my doing have ended the first two of them many years in. I'm not going to de-name my Mazda hatchback that currently wears the plate, and I don't have a strong feeling for a novelty named plate. Still, if ever the Mazda rolls it's last, the plate will pass down to the next in the line of succession, which I certainly plan to be the Slate.
