Maybe attach a lanyard to a "Seatbelt Cutter and Window Breaker" and hang it from your turn indicator.

Edit: Mine's spring-loaded with a hardened pointed striker. Keep out of reach of children!
I have something similar in my truck and I guess theoretically my tactical pen would do the trick if driven with enough force?

I’ll let you use your imagination as to how you can drive it into an opponent as a last resort.

One reason the window cranks might change is 50% tariffs on imports from Brazil. That might just push it into the range of forget the cranks and just install electric by default for the same or lower cost.

Would be ironic if they flipped and made hand cranks the OPTION vs standard.

Not panicking while the car fills with water would be the hard part...
I remember from, I believe, it was a Top Gear segment where they submerged a car in water to show how to get out. Richard Hammond had a hard time not panicking and he trained for it AND had an air supply available.

Edit:

Mythbusters did the car escape thing too.

Lots. Just....lots.
Its still possible to open a window under pressure if you can overcome the additional friction from the increased pressure. A motor (assuming it works still) might not have the oomph, but cranks will turn until something breaks - either the friction threshold or the crank!

Ill take a passenger side motor and a manual drivers side please. I can crank, and am happy to do so. But I REALLY hate trying to lean over and crank the passenger's side up/down, especially while driving!

Also, if your pulled over, these days cops get reeeeeeal squirrely when your moving all over as they walk up - usually on the passenger's side.

I had that thought too...turn the interior light on and keep hands on wheel until instructed otherwise!

From what I’ve seen, you’ll be leaning over to push the passenger side button to roll the electric windows up/down. It looks like the “upgrade” just adds a motor and button where the crank was. I haven’t heard anything about the passenger side being controlled on the driver side. Could be wrong, but I’ve been paying attention.

I'm not so sure about that, but you could be right. When opting for the electric windows, you can see the door lock/unlock button gets swapped, and has what appears to be two sliders for the windows.
