Most transmissions are not made in china nor are their materials. ECUs and sensors will vary but the plastics are sadly often from there.

Im really not sure why pointing out that Chinese shit is low quality upsets so many.
Because what you said is asinine. You said you wouldn't trust Chinese made components to get your family down the road, yet are fine driving cars right now that are full of them, often critical components.

A handful of Chinese plastic components in a ~15 year old domestic vs the motor unit from the motor supplier of a company that has had thousands upon thousands of fires and deaths per year and is actively covered up by rhe Chinese government as part of a $20B propaganda campaign. Very similar

Does anyone know when the Munro info was filmed? I notice they said the motor would be made by JJE, but last month they showed one by Borg Warner.
I think believe it was after the reveal maybe the start of this month (July) or the end of the last month (June) because the did mention the reveal so had to be after that. I also believe that sandy had a video call with someone and they were talking about the slate a week or two ago so could have been around that time frame

Disappointed that they’re not going with a heat pump on the first models but plan on switching to them later versions. Not a show stopper but I’d rather they do it right from the start. Guess they need to add heated seats and a heated steering Wheel now to needed options.

I think I read that JJE has factories in USA as well as China. I’m assuming Slate will get theirs from the plant in MI to save on any import tariffs.

I wanted to know about the regenerative braking but that wasn’t mentioned. Does that only work on the rear wheels, using the motor, or was there also something on the front wheels I didn’t notice. It wasn’t even mentioned, has anyone heard of it even has regenerative braking?

They said it doesn’t have any paint. How is the frame coated? It looked black in the video, the prototype. Is it plated, something like galvanized?

They mentioned e-coating, also known as Electrocoating where charged particles are deposited on the surface after dipped into tanks. The finish protects metals and steels from corroding and requires no traditional paint.

So regenerative braking works by turning a motor into a generator and that provides resistance to tire rotation and consequently acts similar to applying the brakes. It only impedes rotation on axles that have motors so the Slate would only get regenerative braking on the rear axle. It does cause tire wear to be more pronounced on that axle since you are getting all of your accelerating and most of your braking out of those 2 tires.

They were referencing the tax incentives so at least a couple weeks.

And it reaches places that are hard to reach with paint.

You really ought to stop watching the right wing propaganda media and actually start thinking for yourself.

Oh, they are. Well, thats the end of my pre-order. Unless they are made jointly with Allison.

I don't trust anything made in China to get me down the road, let alone put my family in
I don’t blame you. However, like others have mentioned china has been leading the way with EV technology especially when it comes to battery tech. Also many foreign companies have additional manufacturing process that are completed in other countries. Someone referenced transmissions in another post. It’s common for manufacturers to import raw castings from overseas and machine them locally in a US factory. The labor, the minerals and less stringent regulations make it cheaper and faster. (Worked at a transmission plant for Toyota Subsidiary). Our supply chains are incredibly interwoven with foreign countries and will continue to be until we reverse decades of de-industrialization. I respect your conviction on the subject, I also respect slate’s attempt to produce e as much as they can in the US while still bringing us a revolutionary platform intent on restoring ownership sovereignty.
