Here! Id like to sell you this for Thousands of dollars. I know it's cobbled together and has a lot of work left to do. But trust me. It'll look WAY more better than what Im showing you right now. 😉 Just saying. Me and a bunch of other guys could take what they are displaying and make it look WAY more presentable. Maybe that's why they stopped doing the events.
I think Slate has been very upfront that these are preproduction and there will be changes. Much rather they put time and effort into getting into production than using resources where there is minimal benefit. Maybe at some point they will sell you one and you can show off your skills.

Sounds like the beginning of a good YouTube channel where they drag a trailer of tools and goodies to someone's driveway and 8 hours later it is transformed! I'd subscribe to that!

Awesome. You might have something. Reminds me of. "Hey Bus driver. Move that bus."
There are dudes who drive halfway across the country to do extreme cleaning of barn-find cars...I'm sure you could make money and monetize via YouTube, etc channel magic...presuming you are even modestly telegenic. Let me know if you need a producer!

I’m impressed they had 70+ units for testing and certification.
There were rougher units that were doing testing in Arizona a few months ago. Looking forward to Slate showing final products off next year if they can get there. It’s tough to make things for sure.
Possibly those rougher looking units in Arizona were testing out body panel materials. The ones at the events are known to not have the same panel material that the final ones will have.
My strong suspicion is the "tour" units were very early units, possibly the same ones they showed off at the reveal in April, and that many of the 70+ crash test units were produced after them. hopefully when the tour starts back up they will have later units.
It seems that at the early events when they were allowing people to sit in them, people were intentionally rough with them, slamming doors, yanking on things etc, trying to test build quality, but when enough people do that with a prototype, things will break.

Hey all, new to the forum but that’s my video. Thank you to those who have checked it out.

To add some context…

The wrapped SUV version was not a drivable prototype. The blank Slate was, but according to the people there, it was an early prototype.

You can see in the video that they use this one regularly. The truck bed had plenty of wear and tear from the marketing team packing their gear in it. To me, it was nice to see it being used, and not some perfectly polished, keep your hands off, vehicle.

As for the fitment of the panels, it’s no better or worse than the Cybertrucks I see around here. I do think most panels could probably be easily adjusted for better fit.

I personally have bought mostly used cars my whole life because I love customizing them, so the ease of customization and starting from the absolute basics is exciting to me, especially after seeing the Slate in person.

I’m hoping to have the money to buy a Slate and customize it as well, and of course make videos on the channel about my experiences with it.

Excited to have discovered the forums! Down to answer any questions you might have as well.
