Most turbo ICE have flatter torque curves than depicted above, but electric motors feel better to most people because most ICE are bolted to crappy automatic transmissions, and the torque flow is obviously not tied to engine speed and noise.

But really my personal issue is, am I going to get to drive a Slate before I buy it? Lots of people and reviewers like the Maverick. I thought it sucked (for a truck).
Sometime next year, I may have read early next year, reservation holders are supposed to start getting test drive opportunities.

Why would you say that? It has more HP per pound than my first car a 1972 Fiat 850 Spyder.
I was going to say, my truck can do 85 down the interstate and it's 80hp @ 94lb-ft of torque.

For a more modern weight comparison from a vehicle that's not a rolling kleenex box, my Fit is 117hp @ 106lb/ft of torque. I was able to find a few people towing things around the Slate's 1000lb trailer payload, much against Honda USA's recommendations.

My 1972 two wheel drive Datsun pickup was fine in snow where the differential was dragging snow.
I had one of those too!

Never drove it in the snow, but drove it on desert trails a lot and it was fully up to the task, despite being a bit of a Gutless Wonder.

Meh...it was the grandfather of the Hardbody. I give it credit accordingly.
