Here's what Slate has said about servicing its trucks:

Through an upcoming national partnership, we will be offering authorized Slate service at more than 2500 locations throughout the US, and we will be working to expand to more locations. You’ll also be able to find service locations on our website soon, and in the Slate App when it launches.​

This is a good approach working with a partner that has lots of locations to provide service / fix. Eliminates distance issues for owners as well as long appointment, wait and repair times. Much better approach than Scout and Rivian building out their service center network from nothing.

Prediction: The Slate partnership will be with Mavis Tire Centers. The timing of Slate Auto and Mavis / Midas deal is not a coincidence. And everyone has a neighborhood Mavis or Midas location nearby.

Mavis Tire Express Services Corp.’s pending acquisition of Midas from TBC Corp. will give Mavis 1,200 additional locations across the United States and Canada.

When the deal finalizes, Mavis – already the largest independent tire dealership in the U.S., according to the 2024 MTD 100 – will have more than 3,500 stores.

Sounds like a good guess. With brake and muffler work on the decline it would make sense for them to secure additional low tech work to get better utilization of their facilities.

I posted this a while back, but Walmart's own auto center page claims "over 2,500 Auto Centers nationwide" which is an exact match to the statement by Slate about their yet-unnamed partner.

Yes I agree that Wal Mart can be a contender. Just an educated guess it could also go with Mavis / Midas. Hopefully it will be disclosed soon.

That makes sense to form a partnership with an existing franchise of repair centers. Missed opportunity for Tire Rack as they're a more enthusiast focused brand, but I guess they're still working through the Discount Tire acquisition.

Something I read (or watched) gave me the impression that delivery providers and service providers are not one in the same.

From Slate's FAQ, here's their answer to "Where can I get my Slate serviced?":

Taking care of your Slate is simple and requires very little maintenance of brakes, tires, cooling fluids, cabin filter and wiper fluids. Slate University, our video library, has how-to videos explaining all of what needs to be done. The Slate App will keep track of all of your DIY maintenance as well.​
