I have been trying to find this little clip again. Jeremy Snyder talks about the audio/stereo systems that will be available, explicitly stating there is a stereo that can be mounted in the center console. He mentions having mechanical and electrical points where accessories can be mounted and plugged in. It will be interesting to see how this all actually works.
Center console vs dash is a choice.

Clip saved at the timestamp for this portion of the interview.
Thank you!

I wouldn't want to pay for or have installed the wiring, cabling, speakers, antenna, and any accessories associated with a radio, stereo, or any other form of passenger compartment entertainment equipment. But that's just me. I'm okay with a horn though. :)
Then the slate might be the wrong car for you.
As long as they make it easy to route those things and the taps are available, then Id be fine to do the work to install. Except that I wont because I dont need a radio or speakers at all and Im happy to not pay for any of it.

Important to me, but a different reason -shipping. I will be able to ship with SUV/Cargo installed but not uninstalled as none of the shippers allow anything in the vehicle. I would have to weigh cost of getting installed before delivery to port vs separate shipping of the topper. At this point, lack of info means “who knows”. Shipping here to Hawaii is always a challenge most any purchase. Shipping as SUV likely same cost as blank Slate, so comes down to installation cost and delivery to port vs independent shipping costs of the flat pack. Very possible could be very close. Would something like SUV/ Cargo be installed near factory or local near delivery? Near factory would seem reasonable especially cargo top/fleet.
I’ve been going back and forth on this subject as well. In your case in Hawaii, you’ll need to determine if any of Slate’s delivery partners are reasonably close to you. I’m going to take an educated guess and say, “not any time soon.” Your best bet is to have the SUV kit pre-installed at a preferred and proven site of Slate’s choosing. Then complete ship to HI. Shipping costs usually factor in weight and cargo volume (ft3) but probably not significantly more than the basic truck.

Frankly, I don’t see how the standard knee jerk response: “we”ll know more closer to production” applies to a logistical issue like this. Everyone at Slate has got their feet to the fire to meet obligations. They aren’t going to waste any calories on making specific fulfillment promises that may need to be reversed in the future.

I have been driving with my radio off in the car for over 3 years now. I just watch play youtube and apple music the whole time off my iphone. This is a biggest improvement and money saving I've seen so far.
