It's gonna be fun watching Sandy Munro tear down an actual Slate off the production line. Do I remember correctly that his team did consulting on the Slate? I think I saw that in a Munro video where they were visiting the factory, but I'm not sure.

Correct, I think Eric from Slate said it he was one of their first contacts.

During the stealth period some of them were co-located in his building, I believe.

Eric: "Working with your team was fantastic"

Sandy: "[...] you guys came down [and] set up shop in our in our back area. So, we're going to put a little shrine around that, a little roped off area."

All the reliability engineers in this community would be interested in analyzing the results after 160k simulated miles. I’m speculating they performed the full gamut of accelerated life testing, high / low temperatures, shock, vibration, rain, salt fog, sand & dust, humidity, etc.

And after a complete tear down, looks like they found…an arm 🧐.

Now looking for that Slate employee…

What was the point of this video? After 160,000 (simulated) miles, I'd like to see the condition of the battery cooling system and the drive motor/rear drive unit.

And how about the battery capacity at this point? Assuming the 160k miles is representative of about 10 years of usage, wouldn't that be the life expectancy of battery? Most other EVs have a 10-year battery warranty.

Perhaps on a future update Sandy from Munro Live can report on the results of the teardown. Now if the battery still has 50% capacity and drive unit shows minimal wear, I'd be duly impressed.

🤔
Hmm....

I'm still excited about Slate Auto.
However, this video is about as informative (sarcasm) as the winter driving video.

After all, the truck is RWD, so why show a "tear down" only from the front?

Slate loves to show PROGRESS without showing DETAILS, which I get, but the details are what I want.
