If they use Blurtooth 5.x, they could get nearly 300M of range in ideal situations and that standard has been around since 2016. While I've not been at that range I have had times were ive been 300 feet from my phone and still had Bluetooth connection, but I also had direct line of sight to the phone as well.

I'm pretty sure they will have the data available through the USB port.
Without a doubt.

I was responding to @E90400K 's suggestion that remote tracking for fleet operators sounds like an opportunity for a 3rd-party application.

Edit: Upon reflection my intent wasn't obvious. Just trying to emphasize that Slate doesn't need to do anything to enable fleet operator tracking.

@KevinRS

But think about the use case. Its an EV with at best a 200-mile range with the big battery. The truck most likely needs to redock somewhere to recharge. The fleet owner is going to see the charging data and can match it to the route that should be taken.

The company I work for leases our fleet vehicles from a 3rd party fleet-services leasing company who tracks the vehicles locations with a tracking device. All the trucks are ICEV.

Just because the Slate is an EV is immaterial to the tracking app.

I don't know what typical fleets do, but I do see fleet vehicles at the auto parts store that are parked at the store location (where they could be getting an Electron Boost) most of the time.

Even if the vehicles are out all day, 200 miles in a day seems more that adequate for a lot of purposes. Possibly even 100 with the small battery -- with extra load capacity that provides -- would be enough.

I'm imaging (because I don't know what typical fleet operators do either) that fleet operators have the data required to determine how many miles of range per day they require.

A Slate probably wouldn't be ideal for an employee who spends most of their day actually at the wheel driving the vehicle, but 200 miles requires, what, 3-4 hours(?) of driving in city traffic. That seems like plenty.

I've posted before that we just got a new O'Reilly's store by my house. Along with that came a fleet of brand new parts runners. Two Nissan Frontiers and a Versa. Those could be Slates! On top of that they've already totaled the Versa, and last week caved the front of one of the Frontiers in! Slates could be replacing those!

And this building and the land is owned by the O'Reilly's store so they could add their own 240V chargers.

That was one of the first fleet use cases I thought of for Slate. Most fleets, the owners do want tracking info, not just to make sure drivers aren't driving off route, but so they can find where they are, know when they are getting where they are going, etc, without having to call them.
Yeah, they appear to be using low cost compacts for the small stuff, and trucks when they need to move something like an engine. A Slate would fill both roles, they would no longer have to make side trips to a gas station and maintain a company card for gas, because they could charge at the store. They probably would put in 240v charging, but might not even need it, as those vehicles spend most of their time sitting at the store, and make trips under 50 miles, round trip.
