Does the reservation by date chart work for everyone? Doesn't show anything for me. When I did the math, 80.4% of the reservations are ahead of my reservation date 7/11/25. If I'd apply this to the total reservations and the expected yearly output, it may not be my turn until 2029. So I am hoping that the data is statistically skewed due to forum members being over proportionally early reservation holders and a big chunk of reservation holders not following through w/ ordering. If not, the late tail of us may jump ship next year.

I wouldn’t place too much emphasis on the data in this chart. Based on 792 reservations posted here by forum members (as of today) out of 150K+ reservations touted by Slate Auto, the data is not statistically significant and no inferences can be made as to when your reservation will be converted into a pre-order opportunity. Next month we might get a peek into Slate’s secret Rosetta Stone.

Reservation by date chart isn't working for me either.

If you had 792 random samples of the 150,000, that would absolutely be statistically enough to draw conclusions on. Basic questions like the ratio of extended range to standard battery, ratio of pickup body to SUV to fastback, or the distribution of April reservations to July 2025 reservations to 2026 reservations can be determined with a decently narrow confidence interval after only a few dozen people, we've got almost 800 random samples which is comparatively an enormous mountain of data.

I'd be way more concerned about selection bias, the kind of people who visit this forum and fill out the chart are likely not representative of the average.

Even more than that, I'd be concerned about the difference between a "wish list" with no prices attached and what people will actually end up buying. The survey says that 68% want the extended battery, but if that's a $7,500 option, a lot of people might not actually buy their dream Slate.

Regardless, I wouldn't be too worried about a $50 fully refundable "reservation" being too late in the chronology. I know the reservation page says "$50 (fully refundable) locks your spot for a blank Slate." and "Early access: It ensures you’re among the first to receive updates and be prioritized when deliveries begin." but I'd be unsurprised if willingness to jump on a real, approx. $1000, non-refundable earnest-money deposit in June pushes you to the front of the line. The actual reservation terms page (https://www.slate.auto/en/terms/reservation) says:

> As Slate approaches the start of production, you will be invited to place an order for your Truck based upon reservation date and a number of other factors. ... Your priority for the delivery of your Truck will be set, in part, by the date you place your order, the date you execute final sales documentation, Slate’s manufacturing schedule, and the location and method selected for delivery.

Note that it does not say priority is set by the date you placed your reservation, it's the date you place your order.

Also, not all of those 150,000 reservations will turn into real orders! I hope for the sake of Slate and for the sake of our roads that they will, but they won't. Cybertruck isn't the same as Slate, and Cybertruck reservation holders aren't the same people as Slate reservation holders (thank God) but only 2.5% of Cybertruck reservations turned into actual orders. If Slate's conversion rate is an order of magnitude higher, at 25%, then your 80th percentile order would be filled in late 2027 not 2029.

I think if they do have an incredibly high conversion rate, they would in a short time announce plans for a 2nd factory to increase production.

In December one of the Slate agents came back with this response. Another key factor is region. According to other sources, orders going to California, Florida, and Texas will likely be rolling out first:

“In terms of early reservation timing, deliveries will be region based as we begin production and scale. While we are not able to confirm exact purchase or delivery timing for individual reservation holders just yet, early reservations will absolutely be prioritized as we move through our rollout. We will be sharing more detailed timing and regional rollout information as we get closer to production and delivery milestones.”

California, Florida, Texas being first is just speculation based on those states being high in EV sales. No real source besides that.
