OK so now the big reveal is over, and Slate is moving into production facilities in Indiana. But even if all goes well, Slate won't actually start delivering vehicles until late 2026, about 18 months from now. So there may not be a lot of news to discuss for a while.

However, one thing will be happening in the interim: Slate is taking its show on the road. The "Slate Tour" currently includes scheduled events at the following locations for June 2025:

June 4: Olympia WA
June 11: Portland OR
June 14: Salem OR
June 19: Salt Lake City UT
June 21: Detroit MI

None of those are convenient for me, but hopefully some people here will be able to attend and report back. Would hope that Slate has actual prototype vehicles available to check out, but no details about the events have been posted yet, just the dates and locations.

Hopefully Slate will make an appearance in every state in the months to come, I'm sure they'll try. They probably need to make some more demo models first.

It's not a show stopper, I'm getting one regardless.

I'll be there June 4.

The Olympia one is somewhat close to me. I've put the date on my calendar and am looking forward to seeing additional details about what to expect if I can go.

I just hope it's worth the trip. Keep an eye on the Slate events page; for now it just says "More info coming soon!" for every event. So maybe more info will come soon.

I put the Detroit one on my calendar. We'll see.

I did notice that the announcement said "see a Slate truck". So maybe touching / sitting in one is a bridge too far? And certainly not "test drive a Slate"!

I plan to attend the June event in Detroit MI. Will report back impressions.

I'll jump on going to one if they ever bring it to the OK, TX, LA area. A lot of the people I talk to in person about it who are interested all have the same question... how hard are the seats?

I have a feeling if they do bring it to TX it'll be in Austin, but I will do the drive to see it. Let the reservation holders actually touch it and look it over at least. We'll see what the first few events look like.

Can someone please take a 3D scanner with them and get some scans and some measurements so we can start working on some ideas of after market products?

I can tell you the first mod I'll be doing is putting a power dimming rear view mirror in it if it doesn't have one. And this isn't really a "the slate should have one from the get-go" complaint, I was spoiled by my first car having one and I've put them in everything ever since. Hopefully the slate will just have a standard window button to mount it, but if it's a roof-mount or something and you design something like this I'll definitely be a buyer!

I'll definitely ask if they will publish some specs in advance for the aftermarket to get started on designs if I ever get to go to an event.
