Is AM radio available via internet?

Perhaps, haven’t tried this yet. There is a full browser on board that is Linux based. Plus a suite of movie channels including Netflix, Disney+, YouTube, and several more with the full connectivity subscription. And yes, I can access this forum. Really helps pass the time while supercharging!

Funnily enough my town still has its AM music station that was founded in '47 running, and I find myself listening to it more often than I would expect given how the reception works out. It makes for good background noise when the rock stations get too grating after the tenth consecutive ad run. I would probably be too young for using AM radio for music but I was fortunate, or unfortunate, enough to grow up in a test market for Disney's AM music station, Radio Disney.

I just wish we had a local, dry, news station. I miss NewsRadio 780 in Chicago.

You can still have offline music. That's what I do, but I bluetooth my phone to my aftermarket headunit. Android phones work best because you can put a 512gb sd card and load all the music you want. You don't need to work around Apple itunes or any of that trash.

If I need to carry my phone, and have it connected to my phone, that can "technically" be offline from the internet, but it's not stand alone offline.

Itunes is BEYOND TRASH for trying to play music. I blame the death of mp3's on it and it's crappy interface, but I am stuck with apple for my smart phone for reasons.

I have no idea how much better android is at mp3 playback, but I've noticed only the cheap phones have nice features like an SD card. But the point still stands, I do not want to need my phone to play music. I'd rather have a cassette tape deck than that.

I did find that Kenwood makes a headunit, with garmin gps, and looks like has a pretty good mp3 interface via sd card.

only to learn garmin is canceling it's support in 2028 of the products.

Garmin actually makes a clear map. gives clear directions.......... and removes themselves from the app stores, and now headunits. Makes no sense to me.

Why do I like garmin? because I LOATHE GPS routing. I do however LOVE electronic maps, and garmins map is easy to read, displays the speed limit of the road you are on without needing to be navigating you, and will just display the name of the next cross street. This is so wonderful for just relaxing drives.

I've had no issues with music playback on my android phone. Samsung's "Music" app was pre-downloaded onto the phone and in true android fashion if you go over to 'folders' it'll pull just about everthing it can find on the phone with audio in it. I had to delete the samsung store version and re-download it through Google Play and it works identically on Android Auto. Pick a an album of songs or by artist, or all of them from from the folder I keep the song folders in with that little shuffle button. I should add it also auto-pairs and starts music via bluetooth to my other truck's radio without AA and the media buttons control it fine.

It's just the basics of what I need if I'm somewhere with no cel reception. Play music or shuffle. The Slate of music players. Adding music's as easy as pluggin the phone into the computer via USB and dumping things into the 'Music' folder. I love my old iPod Nano 5G but good lord I hate iTunes too.
