To preface this, I think Slate should focus on and release the Blank Slate before considering another model. That said, eventually they will very likely have to make and release another model, and I would like this thread to speculate into that possibility.

My guess would be a 2-door long bed pickup, which could be transformable into a crew cab short bed pickup and, with current accessories, a third row SUV.

What do you all think will be next?

Like the slate but much larger. Like an 8 foot long bed with 2 door. 5 foot bed with two row seating. Some people seem to hate threads like this for some reason.

Other. Don’t care. šŸ˜€
Edit: not throwing hate at the question or what anyone else wants to speculate about. I think the current slate model fills an enormous gap in the market. Whatever else Slate might decide to make will be direct competitive with something else already out there. As others have said it is likely a long way off before Slate decides to make something else.

Pretty sure I won’t getting one. I’m expecting Slate 1 to outlive me.
But why would anyone hate a thread speculating on next model? Makes sense. What doesn’t make sense is is bemoaning not getting future stuff NOW, distracting from the major task at hand.

I think we're a very long way off from this, but what else are we going to do for a year and a half around here?!

My vote is for a van, but not a minivan. Something like a box van or a sprinter. If the fleet vehicle segment takes off for Slate like I think it might, then something you could build a workbench in the back of and use as a mobile workshop would fit right in.

Something similar to the 2004-2006 (first generation) Scion xB.

Four doors. Roomy inside (really!). Loved by owners.

You know, back when I was a kid my brother-in-law took me to the local circle track and one of the race classes was VW bugs. Very few mods were allowed and the racing was very evenly competitive, and most of all, cheap to get into.

The last thing slate needs to do is chase a small market like sports cars, but if somewhere down the road they made something cheap and "slightly" sporty that could handle, I can foresee some fun possibilities like autocrossing.

I too think that Slate should focus on the task at hand. But like any product company, thinking about the next product is always part of the DNA. I hope it’s a cab forward mini-van/truck like the VW T4. Keep the kit of parts approach and make the base version an electric Doka…basically a longer bed (flatbed skateboard) version of model 1. Two-motor AWD option (Syncro). No infotainment, low-tech. I would turn it into a killer camper van.

I'd be interested in seeing something akin to the old Miatas. Technically simple, nothing impressive power wise, but just a small 2 door car that handles well. I'd definitely be interested. I don't think it'll ever happen but it's a fun thought, and if any company is going to make a barebones EV like that, Slate fits the bill.

What if they throw something out of left park like a camper or a boat that would be quite funny I think they will produce better versions of the current skate truck while keeping the same style and feel it might grow and shrink depending on the ev battery or they might make the car version like the original name re:car hehe or maybe they expand there portfolio having the truck but a compatible boat and trailer, a e-bike, or trailer not sure though or maybe they go high end to the peak of ev at this time but I don’t believe they will since it defer there goals

that would be really funny if they made a boat. Especially since the Slate truck couldn’t tow it lol

That’s why I said compatible and is 1000 pounds the absolute max or is that the safe area towing is mostly what your breaks can stop if it can move it it can tow it but stopping is the big issue hehe plus after market mods could up that but may be pricy though or could the 1000 pounds be do to the frame design hmmmmmmm maybe not a full sized boat but a small fishing boat that would be nice lol marketing ā€œthe new skate boat just you a paddle and the beautiful lake side no motors no hassle you are the machineā€ could see that being quite the funny commercial I love there commercials

+1 for an EV similar to a 1990s Miata.
