FWIW, the CrossClimate2 has been superseded by the CrossClimate3.

It's quite a flex for Michelin to do that. According to a review I watched (or read, it's been a while) they improved upon the CC2 in every category other than a trivial drop in Rolling Resistance.

Edit: There's also a new CrossClimate3 Sport.

That's some good info, thanks AZ. The Cross Climate line has been on my radar for a while, both for our ID.4 and the Slate Truck that I hope ends up in our driveway

245/70R17 will undoubtedly be a popular choice for the Truck. It's same width as the stock 17" tire, but taller by one inch.

This size hits a sweet spot for a few of reasons.
- 1/.2" of extra radius is unlikely to require a lift.
- Some tire choices in this size aren't especially heavy.
- On-road compromises will be relatively low.

+1" size (stock 245/65R17 plus an inch in diameter)
245/70R17 (30.5"x9.6") - Speedo Error: 51.7 @ 50mph (3.4%)

BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A KO2: 46.9 lbs, 30.5" (E)
BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A KO3: 47 lbs, 30.5" (E)
Falken Wildpeak A/T3W: 39.9 lbs, 30.6" (Extra Load)
Falken Wildpeak A/T3W: 48.3 lbs, 30.8" (E)
Falken Wildpeak A/T4W: 40.9 lbs, 30.6" (Extra Load)
Falken Wildpeak A/T4W: 48.1 lbs, 30.8" (E)
Toyo Open Country A/T III: 37 lbs, 30.6" (Extra Load)
Toyo Open Country A/T III: 44 lbs, 30.6" (E)

Heaviest tire: 48.3 lbs
Lightest tire: 37 lbs (11.3 lbs lighter)

Goodyear has two unusual choices in 245/70R17, a Standard Load Mud Tire and a Standard Load All-Terrain tire with road manners and high resistance to damage:
Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac: 39 lbs, 30.6" (Standard Load)
Goodyear Wrangler Adventure with Kevlar: 37 lbs, 30.6" (Standard Load)

The damage-resistant Goodyear tire is intriguing because I don't plan on carrying a spare.

The Wrangler All-Terrain Adventure with Kevlar trades away some aggressive appearance for some on-road quietness, comfort and handling characteristics. To me its looks are aggressive enough. It looks like a proper truck tire as opposed to an all-season car tire.

Blurb:
The Goodyear Wrangler All-Terrain Adventure with Kevlar delivers on-road comfort with off-road toughness. A spiral-wrap layer of DuPont™ Kevlar® fiber reinforces the tire for durability, puncture resistance, and structural integrity. The Durawall™ sidewalls are reinforced with a polyester body cord and specialized rubber compounds that resist chipping, cracking, and tearing.

For snow people the (heavy) Load Range E version of the tire is 3PMSF-rated but the Standard Load version isn't. That's strange, because the tread should be about the same.

This tire has been made for a decade or so (since 2013?) and they are -- or at least have been -- an OEM tire for some pickup models (e.g. Tacoma, F-150).

Slate displayed a Truck with 265/70R17 tires on wider-than-stock aftermarket wheels. The stock wheels won't be the ideal width for this size, but it'll fit.

+2.1" size (stock 265/65R17 plus 2.1 in diameter)
265/70R17 (31.6"x10.4") - Speedo Error: 53.6 @ 50mph (7.1%)

BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A KO2: 45.7 lbs, 31.6" (C)
BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A KO3: 46 lbs, 31.6" (C)
Falken Wildpeak A/T3W: 52.9 lbs, 31.9" (E)
Falken Wildpeak A/T4W: 47.6 lbs, 31.7" (Standard Load)
Falken Wildpeak A/T4W: 53.2 lbs, 31.86" (E)
Toyo Open Country A/T III: 41 lbs, 31.7" (Standard Load)
Toyo Open Country A/T III: 50 lbs, 31.7" (C)
Toyo Open Country A/T III: 48 lbs, 31.7" (E)
Goodyear Wrangler Adventure with Kevlar: 41 lbs, 31.7" (Standard Load)
Goodyear Wrangler Adventure Pro with Kevlar: 49 lbs, 31.7" (E)

Heaviest AT tire:53.2 lbs
Lightest AT tire: 41 lbs (12.2 lbs lighter)

"Rough Terrain" is a hybrid between AT and MT
Toyo Open Country R/T Trail: 40 lbs, 31.6" (Standard Load)
Toyo Open Country R/T Trail: 49 lbs, 31.7" (C)

Finally saw one in person! I still plan to get the 2” lift, but now I think that a light set of all terrains in the stock 245/65R17 size will look great with the lift.

Great lists of options here. I'm also a big fan of pizza cutters, and I think they'll be a good aesthetic fit on a "vintage inspired" truck like this. They look awesome on my 97 Tacoma and get a lot of positive feedback. I wouldn't put a 255 or wider on a truck like the Slate. I'd shoot for a 235 first, or a 245 if I couldn't find a 235 in the size I wanted.

I do want to add a few thoughts and another recommendation. First question - do we know if the Slate will require an XL load rated tire with the extended battery? My MachE does with its 99kWh battery. That limits options somewhat.

The other is a recommendation to avoid LT rated tires - the efficiency and comfort hit will be bad on a truck this small, and it wouldn't benefit from the additional weight and casing thickness. I just put that out there because it will be tempting in many of these sizes, but I'd avoid it from my experience on small trucks with LT tires...

For a recommendation, I'd add the Vredestein Pinza AT. It is an "on road" AT tire, not as aggressive as most of these options, but I just moved from Goodyear Duratracs (very aggressive AT) to the Pinza AT (less aggressive) on the Taco, and I'm very happy with them for my use case (mostly on-road utility truck, but get offroad occasionally or help out family with work on their backcountry yurt). They still have some sidewall tread and look like a "truck tire", but are far better mannered on the road, quieter, more comfortable, better wet and snow performance (3 peak mountain rated), and lighter. Have to imagine you'd get better EV efficiency as well. Very reasonable price too.

Some good candidate sizes for the stock 17" wheels:
  • 235/65R17 - 29", SL load, 33 lbs <- good option for people who don't want the ground clearance, but still want versatile performance
  • 245/65R17 - 29.5", XL load, 35 lbs
  • 245/70R17 - 30.6", SL load, 35 lbs
  • 235/75R17 - 30.9", SL load, 36 lbs <- sweet spot for me - tall, narrow, light, aggressive enough, but should drive well on the road and hit good efficiency numbers
  • LT235/80R17 - 31.8" E load, 47 lbs <- see comment above, this will probably suck on the road w/ the LT casing!
