What brand of lawn tractor do you have? Assuming it's electric.
Greenworks, 60V 42 inch Crossover riding mower. I have about 3 acres that I mow. About 1 acre of lawn and 1 acre of orchard I keep sort of mowed, and 1 acre that I just put the deck up a few notches and use it as a bush hog. One charge will give me 1+ acres. When not mowing it makes a peppy go cart (Wish I had it when I was 14.) With a 2 inch receiver in the front it is great for moving trailers around. Had it for 5 years now and still going strong.

I'll admit I'm pretty gullible but the internet is so damn down on Donut. Maybe they really did crack the code, it's like most people don't believe that is possible for a small company. It happens, though. It's how some small companies become big companies.

The first test result, all the comments were "but the heat!". The second test result, heat is proved to be not an issue (within the parameters of the test, which yes, was only a few cycles) so the goalposts moved to "but the longevity!" or "but the mass production scale!". Granted, 100k cycles is a boastful claim but there has literally not been enough time passed from the invention of the battery to test that many cycles. All you can do is estimate and extrapolate from the test you've been able to perform.

Donut is handling the media circus well, and I imagine each week they will denounce the previous week's naysayers until a couple months down the line people start realizing it could be true. Or, they'll do a rug pull and all the investors will be upset and you can tell me I Told You So.

I dunno. I'm not an investor, I have no dog in this fight. I hope these batteries can be retrofitted to the Slate and other EVs so as to not disrupt too much the fragile and fledgling industry. It will be a while down the road. Maybe when I take delivery of my Slate we will know for sure if these things are the real deal, but at that point I won't care because I won't be shopping for EVs!

Yes, agree it will be a while down the road.

Being able to replace current battery tech with SS batteries is promising, but the costs for final production will be the true test.

Sorry for posting videos without a quick summary of what you can expect. My bad.

This guy's analysis is easy to follow and brings up interesting ways to fit a chemistry into what the tests are showing, leading to a possibility of sodium ion. It would explain a lot of the numbers but not the giant leap in energy density, unless that's because of the carbon nanotube stuff Nordic Nano supposedly came up with.

A large number of the doubters are EV owners. They've invested tens of thousands in their current ride, and Donut want to believe new battery tech will render it obsolete.

I'm sure more than a few people who put in a Slate deposit are also taking the Copium. They secretly hope the Donut is a sham coz the first Slates won't get them.

Here's a thought, though. If Donut really did do it, conventional batteries will fall sharply in value. This could give us a cheaper Slate, as current tech is sold at fire-sale prices. Legacy manufacturers will line up to buy a license for it.

Even recognizing all that, I'm still a skeptic. Why merely dribble info when you really have something revolutionary. Just give doubters the full Monty and become very rich very quickly.

Technology has a history of improving, usually to our benefit. This will or won’t but no need to get your panties all twisted at this point. It will either be good or nothing.

Latest test result released this morning. Pretty firmly shows it is not a supercapacitor. It was a charge retention test. Of course, everyone is waiting to see gravimetric charge density and lifespan testing. Those are the big claims.

They're keep it fun. Real or fake? It's a brilliant marketing plan either way.

I'm waiting for MissGoElectric to release her "insider info" video at the end of the month. She claims to have been getting insider info from the IP holders behind the scenes, but is unwilling to publish it until Verge ships, apparently for legal reasons. Grant that as little or as much credibility as you personally feel it merits.

It's getting interesting now. My calendar shows three more Mondays in March, which is also the Verge shipping target. So that's three more test results. One way or another, the Internet is going to explode in early April. They ship or they don't. They deliver the tests everyone is waiting for or they don't.

Although I kind of tend to believe (with little evidence, I confess), I have to remind myself that this timeline seems to be pointing to 1 April.

If it's not Donut Lab, it will be somebody (delivering the magic battery). And as soon as it can scale, prices for used BEVs without a magic battery should plummet (you would think). Why would you want a fire bomb in your garage when you can choose something inflammable. With a battery that outlives you.

Safety is the selling point I'd hit if I were an OEM with an inflammable battery. Not range. I'd show a BEV engulfed in flames. Then I'd cut to a video of cute kids playing. Then I'd show my fireproof vehicle. Then some sort of emotion-tugging caption would ask which vehicle you want your children to ride in.
