Do we know if there is a third brake light?

I understand why they've done that - makes it simple to ensure compliance whether on the pickup, pickup with headache rack/ladder racks, fastback, open air, or SUV body kits - but given the increasing height of vehicles Slate will share the road with, I'd love to add a high-mount third (fourth) brake light to mine.

Some ditch lights/bed lights wouldn't be amiss either, and I've always liked the look of the tailgate light bars. Maybe a tailgate light bar routed across the ladder rack?

More light is better, as long as it doesn't impair the vision of drivers around me!

This is from a facebook post that someone took pictures of a Slate on June 12th at Moto Social in Los Angels. I don't know if this is an actual production model. It does look "cleaner"... I noticed though that from the rear picture, it has the 3rd break light above the handle like we said about in the customizer but it also still has the one in the rear window. I do like it up in the window better than down on the tailgate.

Also, I remember in the first Slate videos on YouTube it didn't say "Slate" at the back lol. Always bothered me a bit because it was a missing opportunity for product awareness, I feel better now that it's there. Lol

You're right. I feel like at one time it was just embossed on there as well, no color change or anything.

Yeah, I think I remember that too. I'm glad they fixed it but I wish it was bigger, Toyota got it right with the Hilux, it need to say "I'm here, I'm cool and this is my name".

The early pre-production trucks they showed didn't have anything on the tailgate except for the name embossed on the handle. The rest of the tailgate was flat, perfect for wrapping.

We couldn't be further apart on this opinion. 😂
I'd be happy if they left it smooth, but understand the desire for some branding.

Lol that's alright. I just love that old school truck look of the Toyota with the huge branding, the beauty about the slate is that we can customize it how we like it 😍🛻

Agreed! I think it needs to be bigger though:

Should be easy to do with vinyl! It doesn't have to be black either, a color-matched matte on gloss or a low-contrast dark gray on light gray could be glorious. Reflective safety film in white (or red on the right base color) would also be awesome, especially at night!

Here's one option:

pulled the SVG logo from Slate's website source code here, go forth and Slate all the things!

Maybe the width in my crude Paint sketch is too much, but I'm generally thinking Marty McFly 1985 Toyota proportions:

That was a good-looking truck. Usually I'd be with Adam and would want minimal branding, but I'll likely be abnormally/obnoxiously proud of my Slate, and want to share it with people who won't recognize it. I'll grant that there are a lot of Toyota logos on the road, people don't need to see that logo to know the brand, but there won't be nearly enough Slates on the road in winter 2027!

Heard back from my custom quote request for a tailgate logo sticker to https://fastdecals.com/ and was very encouraged by the response. Maybe I'm jaded and a cynic and they just ran a search for Slate after I emailed them, or maybe there was already a Slate fan at FastDecals.com?

Yes! I am familiar with the Slate trucks. I'm excited for a company to do something different with trucks other than just making them bigger every generation. They have a lot of cool truck features.

This design is about 5.5 inches tall at 42 inches wide. Would need to be 46.5" wide in order to be 6 inches tall. We can skew it to exactly 42x6" but it will stretch the look slightly.

Our reflective material is Oralite 5600 (made by Oracal). It will stick to about anything and won't shrink over time (it's engineering grade). I'll be adding some Slate logos to the site either today or tomorrow.
Oralite 5600 Black reflective film could be incredible, I've added a swatch to my rvinyl sample cart to see if it's the real deal.

If not, white would be slick too, especially if I end up with a regular white on the cab roof and B pillars for heat/sun (not quite crazy enough to go reflective everywhere) and white on the tailgate logo.

Big names and emblems splashed around a truck are ugly and gaudy. I would rather have no name and people scratch their heads or have to ask you what it is. Charging at Tesla Superchargers I bet will be a crowd attraction anyway for a while
I will put these stickers on mine
