The host (Kristen Lee) from MotorTrend Channel had questions about the panels being easily stolen, no official answer.
She mentioned that the first video they posted that the host Alex was 6’10” and she is 5’3”
The wrap was poorly installed, she mentioned it was prototype. I bet my self install would look as bad and would be interesting in a company installing for me.
The red button is the emergency kill switch.
She said the rear seats would not fold down all the way.
Cup holders in the back seat armrest. I assume this will be part of the SUV kit.
Nice shots of the back area, seats and the cabin.

With the SUV seat installed it looks like it has pretty limited leg room. Not sure that’s going to work for a lot of people.

Yeah, looks like it’s for kids. The host said legroom looks decent and was fine, but she’s 5’3, so YMMV. I’m 5’10” and a wide guy and my Honda Fit rear seats are more comfortable than my spouses Subaru Crosstrek. Then again, I don’t sit in the rear seats very often.

Most important statement in the video... "These will be all over Southern California, for sure". Yup. They just need to make the roof panel removable and it'll become a cult car like the original VW Bus (which I owned).

Also hoping that panel is removable to facilitate installing a sunroof.

Why do you guys think slate would not make one themselves would for all intents and purposes it would be free money for them I was like 90% sure that was one of the yet to release full 100 accessory’s

It's not free money, it would likely be a low volume unit which they have to design, test, manufacture, and worst of all, ensure and stock. The number of people who are likely to want one is a fraction of the population of Slaters, and if anything happens, they then are liable for the damages (water intrusion, etc.)

I agree, hoping Slate just continues to focus on the core accessories and let the market come up with the rest. Maybe Slate could work with the established manufactures that already make these canopies for other vehicles, like they are working with wrap companies for their decals and wraps.

I saw a Craigslist ad with a Jeep that has a similar cover to the one Einer made for me (story below). Mine covered the cab of my Convertible S-10, but it's the same idea.

Slate Auto Pickup Truck Video walkthrough from MotorTrend on the Slate Open Air kit Jeep_With_Cover

I needed a convenient way to cover the topless truck's cab because, for one thing, I didn't want to haul the roof around in the bed of the truck just in case it might rain (or a dust storm might swoop by).

Solution: I went to a local Tent and Awning store and had them make a canvas cover. The cover fit over the open cab perfectly, including pockets for the side-view mirrors.

They knew how to make a such cover because they made boat covers. The guy who measured up my truck was Einer, a burly biker's biker type of guy. Einer came out, measured the truck in just a few short minutes, then he told me how the top was going to work.

Gotta admit, I was a little nervous about how it would turn out.

The canvas cover fit perfectly. It was easy to put on using four bungee cords and even easier to take off. Fun Fact: Canvas shrinks when it gets wet (who knew?). Rain would cause the cover to tighten itself up and shed water like a boss.

Most of the time I left the removable fiberglass roof off of the Convertible S-10 and drove around with the canvas cover stuffed behind the seat.

Hmmm...use case is everything. If you wanted to use as daily driver in SUV configuration, best have littles in the back. If I used for golf cart/beach runabout, it would be fine. But if you routinely had full-sized AMERICANS in the back, that best be a short trip (I hear it enough from my teens about lack of leg room in 3rd row of Telluride (this looks like that) when on 7 hour trips).
