I have a crazy idea….

Since this is one of the most active and lively discussion groups out there, what if event attendees wear a name tag with our forum display name? I think it would be interesting to meet fellow members in person. This is optional, of course. Just a thought. And hopefully more events in the future.

Well … we are almost halfway through June and still no info on these events. Not leaving us much time to plan a visit. I hope we’re not further disappointed with delays or cancellations.

Bring the event in Detroit to M1 Concourse, www.m1concourse.com .
The automotive event center in Southeastern Michigan, twenty minutes from downtown Detroit. M1 has both indoor and outdoor event spaces and a race track and skid pad. Plenty of parking, easy access to expressways and major highways. M1 host monthly Cars & Coffee's, and events celebrating Woodward Dream Cruise, and the American Speed Festival. Hook up with the July Cars and Coffee as a display sponser for one of the largest C&C events in Michigan. Or join the Woodward Dream Show or Speed festival events.

M1 can also accommodate private events with track, skid pad and event space.

Hopefully I will be able to see the Slate in person at M1 Concourse.

I am in SLC and was looking forward to it but I can't see them pulling it together in a week. They should have scheduled something for the 14th, the red bull soap box derby is here so they could have grabbed some free pub and gotten some eyes on it. I am sure RB wouldn't have allowed it but a slate soap box derby car would have been cool.

I think it was in the comments section of a YouTube video the other week (Top Gear channel?,) but a lot of folks there were speculating that the success of getting 100K+ deposits so quickly was an unexpected pleasant surprise for Slate. Conducting a smattering of west coast live events this early probably became a secondary priority. In other words, the message is out and the time (at least for now) would be better spent getting the Truck ready for production and answering early inquiries by email.

By next spring, though, there are going to be a lot more people who will want to see one of these vehicles up close. Slate might very well organize live events then and stage them in close succession all across the country, not just primarily on the west coast. Slate will invariably pick Phoenix as their top tier show city when evaluating interest in Arizona. But I hope they also consider adding Tucson as a show & tell stopover (a heck of a lot closer for me.)

Still waiting for the official word of where June 23 in Detroit will be held

The original posting for the Olympia Washington event said it would be at the farmer's market. It might be that the interest has been so overwhelming that their initial plans to park a truck on the street and have a few reps on hand to answer questions would clearly be inadequate.

Logistically, there's a big difference when you need to plan for actual pre-engaged crowds of people willing to travel long distances, rather than just grabbing the attention of a few random passersby while they shop for veggies.

As much as I'd LOVE to attend an event in Detroit you make a killer point. If you have over 100,000 people already jazzed up with deposits, it would be wise to conserve every nickel for getting things built. I've sent info on Slate to a number of friends and EVERY one of them said they read all of it and are interested.
I'd also add that seeing expensive commercials on TV by automotive companies makes me crazy!! Just put out a good product that performs at a fair price and you won't need those stupid ads.
