And to continue the discussion from another thread, if you put an aerodynamic shell on the back it would look like this, and probably get good range:

I think that's pretty sweet, reminds me of the Trans Am Kammback prototype:

It is a Subcompact economy EV truck not a an F150 or 250 competitor.
True, but even little trucks like the old Ford Ranger had a long (85") bed option. A longer bed just makes it more practical.

quite right, and I personally think XL bed and AWD are the most likely features for a future evolution, but only after this first and cheaper design proves market viable and starts to pay back its investors (a hard modern reality for startups).

It was easier to make different bed length options when the bed was separate from the cab, as on traditional pick-up trucks,. The Slate has a continuous body from cab through bed. Not impossible to lengthen, just more difficult and more expensive to engineer and manufacture.

The short bed fits the two-door SUV versions better than a long bed would.

On the other hand, if they ever make a long bed with part of the stretch between the cab and the rear wheels, we might get a four-door SUV to go with it. Next Model Slate?

When we speculate about additional Slate variants, 5 years down the line, a longer bed seems like a relatively straightforward thing to engineer. Slightly more complicated, but no doubt in the Slate-survives-and-thrives future, is a quad cab.
I would expect a larger variant as well maybe coupled with the quad cab and bigger bed all at once

Do Maverick, Santa Cruz, And Honda Ridgeline owners have the same complaint? None of those offer a longer bed.
