If it can do BOTH 1PD and 2PD, I am in; like my Mach E.

If it only does 1PD like the Tesla, then nope.

I am a traditional 2PD and 3PD driver - have been for over 45 years.
I’m probably your same age and I felt the same for the first year I owned my Lightning, but I am a convert now. Took a day or two to adjust, but now I drive in 1-pedal full time.

Being in the hilly part of KY, I can drive to several locations locally and have energy when I get there than when I left. 😊

Funny, I had a '22 Lightning (first batch off the line) and hated the 1PD (lurches too much). Got nauseated driving in urban Los Angeles stop and go traffic.

Wife really hated 1PD as she got sick too. On rural drives without traffic, 1PD can work smoothly.

So ever since then, I turned it off and never went back to 1PD.

Even the Mach E that replaced the Lightning - never engaged 1PD.

Recently my wife test drove a Tesla MY (refreshed) and asked the sales person why there is no 2PD option. Tesla rep said there is no option for 2PD. She left and said never will consider a Tesla....

As long as there is a brake pedal there is a 2PD option, there is just no option to turn off regen.
All brake modulation is done with the electron pedal (accelerator).
it is of course a learned movement as you discovered and might be difficult with only a test drive.
most ICE drivers get confused because there is no roll at stop mode and definitely not a lurch option.

It’s all about the soft release of the go pedal that’s what eliminates the lurching. Mine is a MY22 as well and I can stop on the line nearly ever time.

Just takes a little practice and some patience.

But hey, to each his/her own.

Yes, I know but when you drive in Los Angeles anytime of the day or night - congested freeways, highways, local streets where everyone cuts you off, my instinct is to jump on the brakes.

Now if I lived in a rural area where there are no numnuts cutting me off or slamming their brakes in congested traffic, then I'd be happy with 1PD.

Yes you just have to break that long habit of fully lifting your foot. The only difficulty is at full charge when regen is less.

If the Slate has an adjustable regen then I'd like that.
Set to the lowest level, I can still coast and still jump on the brakes when I need to.

So the numnuts pedal and not the idiot pedal. 😁

Regen is table stakes for an EV. Nothing is really one-pedal driving though. There's just greatly reduced use of the friction brakes. Heck, when I was a kid most cars were three pedal driving. Try convincing a Gen Z person that this was a thing. haha

My son's friend who evidently learned to drive in a golf cart hopped out of my Jeep letting it run into my son's parked F150.:(
I engine brake my AT FJ as much as possible and did the same with every manual car I’ve ever owned…there has been quite a few. I kinda think of regen braking the same way…let the motor slow the vehicle instead of applying friction brakes.

There is a lost art. Downshifting and engine braking. Then the vehicle is already in the correct gear to resume speed.
