This one is more about the company and less about the product. Like DeMuro, he thinks the blank Slate is priced too high, but also thinks it should be sold anywhere other than the U.S. I disagree with pretty much the entire thing. Enjoy.

I think so many upstart EV companies have failed, that the skeptics are right to not trust this until they see it. Still, some are just being overly pessimistic

Agree. I'm an Elio victim and this truck is eerly identical from the exact same forum platform, repurposed factory, tour dates, media hype, etc... The only thing missing is a picture of the Elio. I hope Paul Elio is not secretly working for Slate

Honestly I'd rather be told nothin but bad news and then end up with a normal product than be sold a ton of hype and end up with something far under expectations.

I'd hate to use the Cybertruck as an example but I follow their forum and it sucks seeing their range extenders cancelled, people waiting almost a year for light-bar, and general over promises being under-delivered.

Over promise and under deliver. That seems to be every auto makers moto. Elon is no better than the rest of them.

Bad thing is that Slate has roots in Detroit so hopefully this culture is not already inbred into them.

They might actually surprise us and produce what they say they are going to produce, at the price and time they say they are going to produce it.

Slate seems like it's been founded by Big Auto/Tesla rebels. The kind of people that got fed up with how things are typically done and decided they can do better.

From what I've seen of Chris Barman, she doesn't seem to be the overpromise type. If anything I can see them saying Q4 2026 publicly and in all their marketing interviews, but behind the scenes have Q2 or Q3 circled on their internal calendars. Could you imagine the amount of free hype and goodwill an actual early delivery would generate in the market? If I wanted to shake up the industry, that's how I would play it.

That would be going against the grain and earn them a lot of respect. I would like to see them do what Tesla couldn't do

There are a lot of “Anton Ego” in the internet. Much more than newspapers..! Everyone knows everything and there’s a lot of guy sending bad vibes and non optimistic opinions all the time. So sad how to see those guys. I think they enjoy do that.!!! Would be nice to see all that guys together funding and creating a new project with a new car… even a soup box car..!!! Anything..!! Is really easy take the others job and criticize it. (And sometimes destroy creating fake tendencies)

I do not care …

I believe in Slate and my best wishes for those guys!! Their are using their time, talents and energy trying to create a new successful EV brand..!!

👍

I think all his points are spot on, and I've made most the same. About cost and value. He's just being realistic.

Who is he BTW? 🤣

I guess I’m just not a typical truck guy. What I really want is a compact, all-electric two-door—something like my old Ranger, but fully EV. The Slate is the closest thing I’ve seen that fits that vision.

I don’t get the hate in that video. What’s wrong with having a U.S.-made truck, built for the U.S. market? That influencer seems out of touch with what a lot of us actually want.

Personally, I’m excited about the potential for open-source accessories and mods. I’d love to build third-party add-ons for the Slate. An open platform could be a huge win for small American businesses.
