OK so now the big reveal is over, and Slate is moving into production facilities in Indiana. But even if all goes well, Slate won't actually start delivering vehicles until late 2026, about 18 months from now. So there may not be a lot of news to discuss for a while.

However, one thing will be happening in the interim: Slate is taking its show on the road. The "Slate Tour" currently includes scheduled events at the following locations for June 2025:

June 4: Olympia WA
June 11: Portland OR
June 14: Salem OR
June 19: Salt Lake City UT
June 21: Detroit MI

None of those are convenient for me, but hopefully some people here will be able to attend and report back. Would hope that Slate has actual prototype vehicles available to check out, but no details about the events have been posted yet, just the dates and locations.
Wonder why those places? I guess they are getting a lot of pre-orders from WA, OR area,...UT?

They need to come south, where we use trucks and have a mini-truck culture, and where Chevy El Caminos, S10s, and Ford Rancheros, F100s, Gen2-3 Rangers are still on the road.
San Diego, CA, Phoenix, AZ, Austin/San Antonio, TX. We have EVs here too. Show Elon how not to make an ugly truck in his new backyard.

^ I'm really hoping they do a Texas tour sometime soon. Between Dallas/Ft.Worth, San Antonio, and Austin, there's a huge truck and EV buyer base here.

Already found some solid manufacturing options for stuff like the rearview mirror module. Cost is still high due to import tariffs, but it’s on my list of products to eventually sell.
Honestly the best Supplier for aftermarket power dimming mirrors would be Gentex, they're made in Zeeland, MI and provide either their generic power dimming mirrors to Nissan / Hyundai, or proprietary power dimmers for Ford. I know the first thing I'll be doing is putting a Crown Vic or Nissan Armada mirror in mine!

Slate currently operates in Michigan (HQ), California (design), and Indiana (production). No clue why the Slate Tour is launching in Washington, Oregon, and Utah.

However, so far, Slate has only posted events for one month: June 2025. Even if everything goes according to plan, there won't be any actual Slate deliveries until late 2026. So there will be probably be at least 15-18 more months to schedule Slate events. I expect they will end up covering most of the country.

But probably not Alaska, Hawaii, Canada, or Mexico. The Slate FAQs say:
The Slate and Slate accessories will only be available for purchase in the continental United States, for now.

I did notice that the announcement said "see a Slate truck". So maybe touching / sitting in one is a bridge too far? And certainly not "test drive a Slate"!
From the Slate FAQs:
Soon, we’ll be hitting a town near you. Reservation holders will get an exclusive first chance to sit in a Slate. Beginning in 2026, we’ll have vehicles available for demonstration drives.

Minneapolis, MN would be a great location, draw from the Dakota's, Iowa, Minnesota, Wisconsin and the UP Michigan

heck I would probably go to a Chicago showing (10 Hours away from me)

The slate events page has been updated with the actual dates removed now there's only a month for the event in addition to the city it's hosted in. I personally can't wait to get more details!

I hope they publish event details soon. I was looking forward to the Olympia one in two weeks, but need time to re-coordinate work schedules to get the time away if the date is moving.

Hmm. Here it is June 13 and still no specific location for the announced June 21st Detroit event. Weird.
At this point, I think the assumption should be that it will either be rescheduled or canceled. What would be better than showing off Betas that everyone has already seen in vid after vid is showing off close-to-production units that have actual production interiors, production exterior panels, and that can be driven by attendees. Maybe even host a workshop for DIY wrapping and roll bar/rear seat installation. Summer 2026 is my guess as to when this will happen.

Guess it could be a trade off resources vs benefit. At this point I think most of the people that showed up would have rather specific questions requiring a very knowledgeable presenter, not just a personality with a pretty face. Any physical or verbiage presentation would be highly analyzed and reported.

I think you're right. I know I'd be poking and prodding and asking all kinds of questions about "production intent", component specifications, etc. I'd be super nerdy about it, and I'm sure I'm not the only one.
