Single DIN

Um, we've designed that if you want to
bring a radio in, the design of the
center, um, storage bin area fits for a
single [DIN], so you can bring, you know, a
radio in, but we've also developed an
app like most people today. You just use
your streaming audio and your navigation
and everything from your phone.

I heard that too, but I wonder if she misspoke.
If not, and it really is single, it's not to big of a deal. Most "floating screen" head units are single DIN and if you don't want a screen then a single DIN just makes sense.
I'm tempted to get something retro like this

Dang, I've got a glut of double-din radios that I had planned to try out in the Slate. However, when donating my first car to charity (they told me in advance it would be sold to a junkyard), I pulled the single-din radio from it. I'll absolutely use that if I have to.

Double DIN will be a no brainer. There’s official mockups of a double DIN head unit in the Slate, and if they don’t meet the demand, there will be an aftermarket dash panel ready for it within months I’m sure.

Probably quicker than that. I'm expecting that slate will be releasing detailed dimensions suitable for CAD and generating 3d printable parts before launch, and people will be printing panels before they have a truck to test fit it in.

Thanks for posting the video. I didn’t know they’d done so many crash tests. Sounds like they are getting close to releasing the production model.

So, for clarity. are your episodes, new, original material or repurposed, repackaged already out there material?
My first two were repackaged- my 3rd episode was a completely original episode.

*edit- just finished the interview. They just touched the surface. I plan to go deeper into creation of the company.
