I think Slate made some mistakes with the bed notches. It looks like they lost about two inches by putting tge 2x6 notches above the wheel wells. They should eliminate those two and lower the remaining four so the tops of 2x6 line line up with the highest points of the wheel well covers. Maybe flatten the wheel well tops for a bit of extra support.

I was thinking the same thing with the 6 notches. Why not remove the center and drop it down to flush with the top of wheel well. Hopefully they'll see this post and fix that before production 😆

99% of people want power windows, but Slate left those out. 99% of people want four doors, but Slate left those out. 99% of people want "xyz", but Slate left "xyz" out.

Just sayin...
Just sayin… your 99% numbers exist solely in your head, not reality.

Our opinions about consumer preferences differ widely, especially regarding 4-door pickups and SUVs.

I had owned only 2-door cars and trucks for 22 years before I got my first 4-door.

I want a small pickup, not a 4-door.

Come on Slate, give us a Slate version of the Kenworth CBE single cabs! Jokes aside I still feel like a single split bench seat w/ center arm rest cupholder would have been the cheaper route. We'll see if it just takes four bolts and an airbag sensor cable to liberate the passenger seat from the truck.

Edit: I hope the seats are identical. Get a worn out driver's seat? Just swap in a passenger one from another totalled Slate!

Wish the rear bench could function as a front bench..

hard to get data for this but:
  • Manual windows are available in about 6% of new vehicles, according to a 2016 Car and Driver analysis, mainly in entry-level subcompacts like the Chevrolet Sonic, Kia Rio, and Ford Fiesta, as well as full-size trucks such as the Ford F-150 XL and Ram 1500 Tradesman.

So 99% of people do not want power windows

You are closer with 2 doors. Only around 2% ( 58k) of trucks today sold each year have 2 doors.

Manual windows facilitate doorless driving.
Also known in the Jeep community as
getting naked.

I agree. My Tacoma has the setup you describe and it has worked for everything I’ve needed. Unless the notch height has something to do with the back seats I’d want to carry my plywood as low as possible.
