I don't even remember if it was in the news or somewhere else. It was on TV, but I was not even looking for it, it just showed up. I was glued to the information though even though I was not looking for it. There was also the funny commercial for Taxidermy - Mortuary. That was 4/24/25. I reserved mine the next morning about 12 hours after the introduction. How did you hear about Slate?

Something triggered an online alert and I looked out of curiousity. Piqued my interest and I ordered 4/24. World hadn’t been same since. I definitely wasn’t looking for it. Was either something to do with my Tundra hybrid or possibly I was being curious about a friend expressing interesting plugin RAV4.

Found out about it on a Jeep forum I'm a member of.

I had looked up and read an article on what EV trucks were available a few days before the announcement, because I heard my uncle was considering a Rivian, only to see that they were all higher priced than I wanted and 4 doors. That probably triggered the algorithms to show me articles about Slate when they started getting posted.

The news feed on my phone had an article 5 days after leaving stealth mode. Wasn’t looking for a vehicle, but preordered that day.
It's funny. I pre-ordered same day I read into it also. The plan and ethos made sense and I wasn't going to miss $50 in 2 years, one way or the other.

I saw a short video about Slate in the spring and thought it sounded interesting, but then got busy with other things. Then, this summer, when I was looking into electric trucks, I saw another video about the Slate and was hooked. I had previously looked at Rivian, but they're just way too big, despite the bed being smaller than the Slate's. I would not feel comfortable driving something that huge. And I learned how to drive on my mom's old Cadillac. 😉

Not sure how it popped into my news feed or facebook but I saw it April 25th. The more I read about simplicity, efficiency, production, low cost, DIY awesomeness....I was hooked. I've been grumbling about cars and trucks getting unnecessarily sophisticated and costly for years. Way outta my price range. And $50 (refundable) to get in?! Heck yes. Signed up right then. I'm not one to jump on anything brand new but Slate has me hooked.

I follow a number of EV and auto related You Tube channels. At the time I was interested in the development of the Telo. The reveal was suddenly announced so I watched it. The Slate hit all the right notes for me. To me it is a side X side that is Highway legal. Perfect for trips to my weekend cottage. Thought about it for a day or two, then put down by half a "C" note.

I was happy with my hybrid Mav. I bought it a year earlier because I was tired of waiting for ford to get off their skunkworks ass and give me what I wanted. I don't remember exactly how I came across it but I saw the video the day it came out. It was like the clouds parted and an angelic choir began singing. I haven't felt that way since I saw the Solstice concept roll out at the Detroit auto show in 2004 or so.
I knew immediately I was destined to own a slate if I can only live that long. :)
