I'm not so sure about that, but you could be right. When opting for the electric windows, you can see the door lock/unlock button gets swapped, and has what appears to be two sliders for the windows.

I hope you’re right @Dorbiman. I can only find the electric window upgrade on the Slate maker and I wouldn’t trust it to be accurate.

And whats to stop someone from running a couple wires over to the other side to run a switch? Mini Cooper and Fiero both locate the switches in the center. Why even bother with the door?

I like the way you think. I guess nothing, other than convention, would prevent it!

I will be interested in what quick-disconnects they will have to allow for the doors to easily be taken off.

They probably had to put them in the door because the blank Slate has no center console

Pogo pins. You already see them (in various sizes) in lots of things from CPUs to door connects in airplanes.

They sell a center console. Plus theres that entire dash for .....anything you want it to be.

edit - the mini is in the center...of the dash. I didnt mean to imply it was the center console. It is in the Fiero though, for the record. I should have been more clear maybe.

Incidentally, a friend had a van that relocated all that stuff up to the ceiling by the rearview mirror.

There are some optional buttons you can add in the maker, it's slightly possible some could be configured to control windows.

Definitely could have been on the dash. The doors seem easy regardless. You already have wires going there, I’d imagine all harnesses are prewired for the electric windows from the factory.

As long as they pick fairly robust ones. I worked with a LOT of different pogo pin types over the years and some of the poorly designed ones can be a real pain. Viofo dashcams used to use them in the A119s and they caused a lot of problems. I also once watched a friend try to disassemble a 512 pogo pin chip-holder and explode it all over our shop one day.

There are "Aux buttons" in the maker that go above the AC controls. It's possible, though I don't know how likely, that those could control the windows. I haven't seen much info on what they would control, exterior lights was the only thing mentioned.

I ised an aftermarket kit to add power windows to several cars over the years, in fact I did it last year to my 2006 GMC Canyon. I think I can do it on a Slate too.

I ised this one but I need to verify the in door space before commiting to buy the kit. There are others out there also that could work better on the slate.
Depending on the price of Slate’s kit I may go that route for eas of installatioa
