That was my guess too when I poked around their site earlier today. Does anyone know if this is a permanent magnet motor or an EESM?

Checked their site. See this: motor mounting:

  • Mounting:3 pints at front & rear
I just hope the workers aren't into that many pints. lol
Let’s hope that JJE pays more attention to building quality parts than their spelling šŸ¤”. Chinese company so I’ll give them a free pass.

Hopefully, the 200kw version will be an easy swap. haha

I saw they mention production facilities in both China and the US but does that mean Slate's use of the motor at 140,000 units a year is enough to set up the tooling and part sourcing to build the motor in Michigan.

I Bing'd and found the below from JJE website, published in 2023. This is for a more powerful 200 kW motor (vs. the Slate's 150 kW motor). Perhaps this Michigan assembly line can also produce the 150 kW drive module that is going in the Slate.

I'm curious if something like this could get modded in. I wouldn't, but it'd be rad to see someone do it, especially on an AWD truck. An 800 HP Slate Truck would be wild

If I can find a unit at a decent price, I'll give it a try. RWD, that is, maybe see if the original unit could be moved up front. So 3 motor AWD. But I'd definitely start with dual rear motor.
I already have the necessary equipment (CNC, Welder, etc.).
The only thing I'm concerned about is whether the battery can handle the extra draw.

Even a 250 HP Slate would be better than a 200 HP Slate.

If it's anything like golf carts, someone will figure out how to modify the motor's windings to give it a bunch more torque and horsepower. Or maybe replace the stock motor with a different one.

There'll be hopped-up Slate Trucks. It's only a matter of time...

Sorry to late post, but when I try to convert the torque to pound feet I get crazy numbers. Peak torque on this motor says 3200 Newton Meters. When I plug that into a converter I get 2360 ft lbs which can't be right. You couldn't touch the throttle without shredding the back tires. Can someone smarter than me figure it out? I'm very curious what the stock Slate torque rating will be. I'm guessing it's really 236 ft lbs.
