Search for Car Radios with:
1. Car Radio with Non-volatile memory
2. Zero Memory Draw
3. Preserved Settings when powered off

For some reason, marine, RV, and heavy-duty radios often have this feature. Crutchfield does not list this in their features. The Sony DSX-M80 is an example, though the price is too high for me. Some of the $100-$150 Pioneer and Jensen's seem to have it (Maybe??). A person on Reddit said his preserved his stations, audio settings, and bluetooth, but not the clock. These radios are available if you look. Let me know what you find.

I must be missing something. The little cheapo carplay radio I installed in my tractor is only powered via ignition switch, i know it can sit unpowered a couple weeks without losing anything, pick right up next time ignition is turned on.

Everything is saved in NVM (non-volatile memory).

Agreed, so why all the expressed concern above?
if available my less than $50 radio, I’d expect to see in more expective without being called out.

Most car radios do lose their memories if unpowered for an extended time, how much could be somewhere between minutes and days. Some lose presets when you replace the car battery, some only lose them if it's disconnected for days. It seems it isn't something radio manufacturers or sellers call out, so it makes it tricky.

Ugg! I had a Jensen I added to a previous car. It would reset everything every second time I started the car. Nice radio, but that removed all the fun.

Do you think that I will that issue with the Slate? /S

It will be in their best interests to offer a factory radio with NVM that saves favorites and even the time display. Yes, the Slate doesn’t have a clock display other than your cell phone sitting on the dock.

Beyond that, I expect a few injection molded designs to be available right from the start. 3d printed designs may depending on the material used have issues with heat.
I'll go old school and just bend up some sheet metal to make a mount.

Well, if it is a driver one could always put a rechargable 12V pack in the dash for about $30.

Is the rig going to be 48Volt? Looking to be a fun project either way.
