Got mine today, it's a nice print. Letterpress by the feel of it. I wonder if Slate had a local Detroit or Long Beach letterpress shop produce these?

I was also impressed with the quality of the print job. And today I received an unsolicited phone call from Slate congratulating my reservation and inviting me to call for anything else I need. Seems like they are definitely ‘amping up’ their CX (customer experience) program. Pun intended.

Interesting thought, it would have been way more ironic if the old printing shop (RR Donnelley) in Warsaw, currently being transformed into the new assembly plant, printed these cards. Although, I realize this wasn’t possible as the factory sat dormant for a couple of years. What a strange turn of events that would be.

I used to work in a printshop, and actually own an 2000 pound antique 1800s letterpress, so this is the kind of thing I'm into. A bit of research landed me at Arbor Oakland, a full service print/mail shop in Royal Oak MI, where our Slate concept cards were mailed from. They have a pair of 1950s era Heidelberg windmill letterpresses in production, and seem to be at a good scale for what Slate would have needed for this. They would be my guess, and someone at USPS could cross reference the bulk mail permit number 348 to verify. Yes, I'm deep in the weeds on this. :)

Have mine up on the fridge, if I get a little frame for it I'll throw it on the wall in the garage with my other car stuff.

Interesting that the final product matches the concept fairly closely. Usually that doesn’t happen in the auto industry.
True that, the most notable ones I can think of off the top of my head that survived the bean-counter chopping block were the Honda Model X [Element] and Audi TT concept car.

Is everyone who pre-ordered getting one of these?
Sounds like it, if you have your address on your Slate account. I'm guessing they probably put the order in a week or two after they sent those emails asking for addresses.

If it takes longer to go into production
maybe next year we will get a T-shirt.

I was super disappointed by this. At the very least, they could have include a sticker. This just seems like a least effort possible "gift".
