One thing I noticed in this video was that the Slate guy had obviously been trained in PR (yes, you get training for that). There are a few spots where Jay asked something unflattering, and the Slate guy just smoothly pivoted his response to redirect attention to his talking points.

If you have had PR training, you recognize the tactics in an instant. It's basically how to be so slippery that nothing sticks to you, and to get your sales message across. Always be positive. Always pivot your answer to cover the talking points that have been drilled into you.

Not criticizing. The guy was just doing his job.
That guy was so awkward in the video! Here's a funny sequence where he's got the fake PR smile on at one moment and when Trisha says something that he disagrees with, he immediately changes his countenance.

1.4 million views on the video. You have to go back 6 months on Jay's channel to find a video that has more views than this 3 day old video. A lot of interest in the Slate.
I think it is generating hundreds, if not thousands, of reservations.

If 1% of viewers reserve, that's 14,000 reservations.

Slate is now emailing links to watch the Jay Leno review to reservation holders...

Did anyone here get the email? Looks like they're really trying to leverage the media hype to keep the conversation going.
I mean 1.5 million views yah I would to XD

I just did some quick scrolling on Jay's channel. The only feature video he's put out within the last year that is still ahead of the slate in views is the Mustang GTD with 1.8 million and I bet the slate surpasses that. That's roughly 60 something videos. This vid is doing way better than o.k., it's crushing it. Maybe this will make Jay do another vid after the production prototypes come out.

Crushing it indeed.

It's not every day you see multiple articles written about a video.

If the video is doing that good, there may be a real surge in reservations happening. I wouldn't be shocked if they announced they passed 200k reservations, but they really are sparing with giving numbers, so they might not say anything for a while.

Have we? I only recall seeing the safety lock-out clamps, which would be expected at any public showing to keep someone from smooshing their, or another's, fingers.

Like the purple ones here: https://www.slateforums.com/forum/threads/pics-impressions-from-slate-showing-in-denver-today.13393/
Have you ever gone to a large auto show exhibit (LA, NY, Detroit) where people are climbing and reaching into every corner of the vehicles on display? Never seen this kind of lockout before. Also, the Slate you refer to was on public display … was behind the velvet ropes. Nobody was allowed to get close.

Also Jeremy’s statistics are a bit inflated:
“70% of Americans can’t afford a new car?”
Where does Slate get their dismal financial view of the majority of American households? I think he meant to say one-third.

Pretty sure it's worse than both of those, lol.

I noticed excessive ride noise as well as primitive handling over the speed platforms. Did Slate get the suspension components from the Model T, as well? I hope these traits don't make it into production.

Disappointed adjustable regen braking isn't available. The feature is quite easy to implement.
I think this review would have quite a different outcome if Jay could have left Jeremy behind and performed a real “test drive.” Y’all know what I mean.
