I joined this group not too longer after the first day for Slate, but after I had already made a Slate reservation. I tried to find information on Facebook at the time I first heard about Slate. It seems like there are still groups on Facebook where someone claims to represent Slate and makes claims. Are there any Slate representatives here? Not asking for names, but just want to know if they can correct our errors in imaging what is the Slate is going to be like. I'm waiting patiently for June 22 or so for updates. I still see an almost daily Facebook newby being annoyed they don't immediately have a full price RIGHT NOW for something they apparently just found about and have no intention of buying anyway.

I sometimes wonder the same, if there's Slate employees on this forum whether they are acting in an official, representative role or just hanging out.

As far as correcting errors and/or misinformation, that could be a non-stop task. Would that be a good value for the expense? How much would that employee position pay? And maybe we could get a cut!

It’s part of the role of a Community Manager, so it’s quite possible that they have someone like that in here. I’ve worked in that role before and honestly for a company like Slate it’s an important role to have.

Don't forget about AI agents. These days, it's trivial to instantiate an agent or a thousand agents or a million agents, each with an identity and a logon and a "personality", and set them loose across every single online community in existence.

AI agents can monitor and report on trends in an online community. They can also push an agenda in a community. And they "look and feel" just like people. They can be abrasive or they can be sweet, and all flavors in between. And they have a vast and highly persuasive reservoir of both fact and falsehood upon which to base their arguments.

Like it or not, that's our future. If you're not face-to-face, there's a strong possibility the other party is not a human being.

AND that's why I am so keen to get to facts instead of opinion & conjecture. It's too easy for humans to make stuff up without the help (or interference) of some computer program.

Have you guys ever checked the home page of this forum? Under “Members Online” you typically have the active members participating in discussions (15-20 at any given moment) and over 1,000 “visitors” ….

In fact, here’s a current snapshot of Slateforums members online:
Total: 1,029 (members: 14, guests: 1,015)

Are we to assume that active members are outnumbered by nonmember guests by 100 times?

Wouldn’t be surprised if mostly all of the guests are “crawler bots” planted by Google bot, Yahoo Slop, or similar.
