I guess "put down the pencils" kinda goes with the manual windows meme(?)
“Pencils down” was a haunting term I recall when taking the final exam, and you just ran out of time. Next thing you hear: “Pass your answer sheet to the right…”.

And if you didn’t use a Number 2 pencil to fill in the oval on the answer sheet, that HAL computer didn’t properly record your answers. And then your GPA is recorded as: Zero point zero.

I sincerely hope Slate “sharpens their pencils” to get us the lowest possible price.

If you're a Slate fanboy, your narrative from now to June is "Slate is underpromising and will overdeliver on price at $22,500". A classic tactic to generate surprise and delight.

If you've become more of a Slate skeptic, your narrative from now to June is "Slate left out delivery and other fees and"the mid twenties" will mean $30,000 after fees are added in".

Sigh, another three months of price threads on this forum, where the two sides continue to read tea leaves and tell fortunes.

Yes, it will be a long wait for the June price announcement, but that's the way it goes. The good news is that you will have answers to all your questions about accessories and prices. Can you pick it up in Warsaw? Bench seat? Footwell? Rear cover configuration options? V2L? on and on. True to form, Slate is being straight w us. Mid $20's is $23,333 to $26,666. The larger battery $3000 maybe? Then add your extras and you'll have a good idea of your final price. Kudos to Slate.

This happens on every forum for a vehicle that hasn't had pricing released: Tesla, Rivian, Slate, just to name a few. Even the Lightning forum was abuzz with pricing discussions even after pricing annoucements because dealers still had the option to mark them up. I don't see the problem with people speculating and discussing the price. It's very important, especially for a vehicle where for most people, its primary selling point is its price.

We all can make educated guesses on what the real price will be. But I'll say, we all know the original sales price was $7,500 less than what it will be. So, if anyone is still in with a $7,500 price increase and still sees value of a stripped EV with 2-doors, a few thousand +/- $25K shouldn't be much a factor in the decision making.

For me, the mysterious Ford UEV Skunkworks Truck that is now supposed to arrive at the same time as Slate will be in real production complicates the decision greatly. While I'd like to not have all the tech Ford says will be in the UEV, I know FoMoCo will be around in 10 years, Slate we can only hope.

True also potentially the rivian r3 and r3x could go into production at tge end of the year as well says some sources guesses on them are around 30k-35k may not be a truck but it is similar priced if tat number is to true and I am hoping the slate is about 24k for the base model but they still could pull a fast one and make it cheaper or higher but I think 24k is still very reasonable 23.5k is better and 25.5 seems a stretch looking at financing charts
