I like that they are re-purposing an existing (possibly eyesore ?) facility. We are too quick to develop every inch of open land here in the US. Of course I know that there is a huge difference if the property was a metal plating plant or dealing with pFAs chemicals. Hoping the printing plant didn't fester the soil etc. to the point it holds up the project.
I admire what Bill Ford & Family did with the old train depot in Detroit. The Warsaw property could be just the start of Slate's future plans. Once proven, they would likely need a bigger facility. As for you tax abatement critics-let's not forget the massive subsidies we give agriculture giants and the fossil fuel industry.

I don’t know if Scout received Federal subsidies, but I’m pretty sure they got hefty ones from the state of South Carolina.

Donnelly was a big phone book printer. Place could be a mess to clean up. I Have had to deal with that before.
Have a facility locally that was for the local Newspaper. They sold the presses overseas and everything else for scrap. The utilities and HVAC were intact and they split it multi tenant. Pretty quick and clean turnaround. Sad in a way, really cool older industrial building used for many decades, lots of history and cool old fixtures.

I hope they offer factory pick up and tours. I can get there much cheaper than the standard delivery fee and the road trip would be fun.

I’m planning a factory pickup too. Most likely flying into Chicago, renting a one-way to Warsaw then a nice easy drive back home mostly on i90. I might bring an inflatable mattress to camp it.

I'm wondering if in the future (once up and running) would they be open for facility tours so people can see the production or anything like that?
