CAFE laws are so dumb, they need to repealed.
It's a textbook example of POSIWID.

If fuel efficiency standards were actually intended to make cars smaller and lighter they'd be adjusted until that happens.

Instead, CAFE standards are causing vehicles to become bigger under the guise of conserving fuel.

Sounds like you're planting the same seeds I am with the wife, a year and a half out.
For mine, her major complaint of my Tundra is loss of storage spaces compared to my Ridgeline. I have to agree with her and have high hopes Slate does that better.

I always find it funny that they compare the bed of a new truck to an old truck. I ONLY buy trucks with 8' beds, otherwise, you cut down on the utility. I have no idea why they shrunk down the bed for a 4-door. If you want that, just get a Suburban or something.

But, I agree, my 2500HD is bigger than it needs to be. I wanted a late 90's truck, but I got a really good deal on mine, so that's why I ended up with it. Stripped down (crank windows) and all. Just more truck than it needs to be, but it has the 8' bed that I wanted.

Dan

P.S., My Slate will be used as a commuter/grocery go-getter. The Silverado stays.
I agree, I had a longbed s15 back in the day and the extra bed length was great. Now I drive a Ram with 4 doors and a 5.5 foot bed and I have never had anyone in the back seat and constantly wish I had a bigger bed.
