Truck Bed Secret Storage?

Asked if the SUV footwell area that is covered over in the truck bed could be converted to storage>

Answer: “In the SUV configuration, that area is designed to function as the rear seat footwell for second-row passengers. At this time, we don’t have plans to modify that space into a separate or concealed storage compartment”. Hmmm plans can change? Or could we do it ourselves?

Really hoping that with SUV or Cargo topper, no seat, no rollbar, lower midgate in place, that space can be made accessible, perhaps with a lockable panel.
My 2024 Tundra suffers lack of storage spaces. Someone figured out that the Maverick bed cubby was a great solution. I added one to drivers side and use to store racket clamps, gloves, etc.

If the midgate can't be done maybe some sort of "SUV dog barrier" would be adequate.

Same sort of a panel in El Camino's I reinforced that panel in mine and installed hinges and a pair of keyed alike locks.
