Asked if the SUV footwell area that is covered over in the truck bed could be converted to storage>

Answer: “In the SUV configuration, that area is designed to function as the rear seat footwell for second-row passengers. At this time, we don’t have plans to modify that space into a separate or concealed storage compartment”. Hmmm plans can change? Or could we do it ourselves?

Really hoping that with SUV or Cargo topper, no seat, no rollbar, lower midgate in place, that space can be made accessible, perhaps with a lockable panel.
My 2024 Tundra suffers lack of storage spaces. Someone figured out that the Maverick bed cubby was a great solution. I added one to drivers side and use to store racket clamps, gloves, etc.

If the midgate can't be done maybe some sort of "SUV dog barrier" would be adequate.

No doubt all three of mine would be vying for the passenger seat.

Same sort of a panel in El Camino's I reinforced that panel in mine and installed hinges and a pair of keyed alike locks.

Until we see some more info, it's hard to tell what will be possible. When there is a video or photos of doing the SUV conversion, that will probably be enough. We don't even know what size or shape the space under that cover is.
If we can use the space, I see 2 possibilities:
1. Access from the bed, replace the cover with a hinged cover, or one with a hinged door in it, probably with a lock. Multiple variations possible.
2. Access from the cab, through an opening or door in the bottom of the possible wall between cab and bed.
I haven't seen a view under the cover at all, and there hasn't been a good view behind the seats in truck form. The actual space under the cover might be minimal, if it's mostly just access to bolt in the seat and most of the legroom for rear passengers is already in the cab in truck form.

But I haven't seen a comparable shot of the truck form to try to figure out where the wall between truck cab and bed would lie. If it lines up with that middle bump, the whole thread is moot, there's not enough space to worry about for like 2 inches.

If you're saying what they keep describing as a footwell area under the cover at the front of the bed isn't really a footwell area, you're not alone.

I think it's a footwell area. We'll all find out soon enough.

Looking at how far back the seat went in the recent video showing 3 different people sitting in it, the 6-5 guy had the whole seatback hidden behind the door frame.
If the vertical line in this screenshot is the doorframe, then the seat would go back almost to the back seat, leading to the ~2 inch space being correct.
If that vertical line is where the back wall of the truck would be, there might be 6 inches or so in the space.
Someone at the next event needs to have a mission to get some good photos or video of the area behind the front seats, in either truck or SUV form, whichever is there. It seems they may have the events more hands off and no inside access lately though.
