Seen two slate trucks in the wild today on hwy 95 in SW Arizona. Not sure if they were testing or what. But they didn't have any badge branding on them and they looked like they were very poorly wrapped.

Street legal! Somehow. I wonder how this works with pre-production prototypes. Don’t you have to have a VIN to get plates?

They're Michigan plates, and the M in the center denotes them as manufacturer plates. These are issued to Slate and they can move them from car to car as long as Slate keeps detailed records of which car they're on and when.

if you like legal docs, here you go.

The truck has quite a rake to it. (Rear end is riding high.)

And the spoiler is missing.

To me that just looks like perspective. First picture has good vanishing point on the left but I didn’t get the straightedge out to measure proportions.

Those mirrors don't look like other slates we've seen. I'm guessing they are early mules.

It's the peak of summer so I'm guessing these are stress test models for how getting roasted in the Arizona sun treats the batteries and motor setup.
