Key fob customizations - colors and screwdriver

I'd choose a Torx because not everyone carries around a Torx screwdriver.

But how much Torque could you actually use (seeing how you are using your fob)? Semms like a good way to break a fob

I see five buttons on that fob. How many do you see? You identified three functions. Also, which button locks the transmission and why would anyone ever do that, from a fob no less?

Lock, unlock, Frunk open, remote start, hold (panic-horn)
EV. No transmission to lock.

Hoping Slate makes security fasteners keyed to VIN, so some schmoe just can't whip out his electric driver and walk away with your quarterpanel. 🤣🤣🤣

Not completely sure, but in some of the media I was able to view close up, it does appear that the body panel hardware does indeed have security hardware. Kind of a torx hex but with the pin in the center.

I recall growing up in Queens NY where you would park near a subway station and your car would be “stripped.” This adds a whole new dimension to that situation.

Those are available at Harbor Freight. So they are NOT security heads.

I was thinking the same thing. Not very well thought out unless it's part of a plan to sell replacement key fobs. I'll stick with my Torx screwdriver set.

I can also see a lot of theft happening with your custom headlight covers and such.

I see an opportunity to produce after market Torx screw replacements with a unique keyed screw head that requires a unique patterned driver head. I should contact Fastenall

Everything about the Slate fob is intentional. It can be customized...like the truck. It is well-branded. Its not trying to impress anyone with some kind of curvy design that serves no purpose. It just does its job at the lowest possible cost and the greatest amount of value...just like the truck.

Yeah that’s what it looks like to me, although I’m not sure that remote start is a thing on EVs (never owned one). I hit remote start every time I get in my vehicle. Gets the AC/heat going and lets the engine idle down a bit.

The only thing "remote start" would be good for is to run the HVAC to heat the battery in winter.

Here's a look at how the key fob is customized

I saw in the demos and in when using the "Maker" that the fob appears to be slid into a receptacle of some sorts. Can anyone tell if the fob has to be inserted to drive, or is it kept in the pocket?

I noticed that too. I doubt it needs to go in the dash slot to turn the vehicle on, but I like the idea especially if you add the leather dongle thing to the fob. Adds a little color to the interior as well.
