Didn't notice this until now, but great to see that sound bars will be easy to install / mount on the Slate truck dashboard. There's already a factory rail / clip for it.

Slate Auto Pickup Truck Sound bar - factory mounting location under dashboard sound bar install mount slate truck

BYO Sound System/Sound Bar

The dash comes prewired with multiple USB-C ports, numerous lidded cubbies, and a rail running across the bottom, to which accessories can be mounted. The center cubby is precisely double-DIN sized, allowing easy mounting of an aftermarket head unit. Or just plug into your phone, which mounts easily to the factory installed universal phone mount, with speakers in the other dash cubbies or mounted to the rail along the bottom. Similar mounting rails are found on the bottoms of the doors, in the pickup box, and elsewhere. Or, you know, just clip a Bluetooth speaker to the dash, as seen above.

Nothing Fun
Has anyone ever used a bluetooth speaker as their car speaker? It's cool... when your speaker breaks. But it sounds horrible and is NOT a permanent solution

While I am relieved to see a double din install being accommodated, I’m curious to see how the added draw of a stereo and 2 or 4 speakers impacts range.

Negligible impact. We’re talking watts, not kWs. Nothing to worry about.

I think the removable Bluetooth speaker is a theft magnet.

if we do get a slate I’m planning on a double dstereo hardwired to real speakers and it will support wireless Carplay + have a real volume knob!
Theft proof, simple, low cost, and I can keep my phone in my pocket if I want.

im fine with slate not putting in a factory infotainment center as long as I can add my own.

Boy if that’s not a sign of the times! A hardwired stereo seen as a theft deterrent. In the 90’s people had pullout head units and later detachable faceplates because car stereo theft was so rampant. I’m with you on the volume knob, CarPlay and ability to leave my phone in my pocket.

I really want to know how the speakers are going to be mounted / what kind. It's hard to compete with speakers built into the doors for using that door cavity for bass. My truck has little 4'' speakers mounted under the dash and they're tinny little things.

I think the doors are designed for speakers
