Big agree. My 2005 Silverado feels gargantuan coming from my 68 C10, and even the 05 is dwarfed by new Silverados and F150s

Seeing that lifted reg cab Tacoma makes me want to lift the Slate and slap on the largest AT tires that will fit. Wrap it in fire engine red too.

I always find it funny that they compare the bed of a new truck to an old truck. I ONLY buy trucks with 8' beds, otherwise, you cut down on the utility. I have no idea why they shrunk down the bed for a 4-door. If you want that, just get a Suburban or something.

But, I agree, my 2500HD is bigger than it needs to be. I wanted a late 90's truck, but I got a really good deal on mine, so that's why I ended up with it. Stripped down (crank windows) and all. Just more truck than it needs to be, but it has the 8' bed that I wanted.

Dan

P.S., My Slate will be used as a commuter/grocery go-getter. The Silverado stays.

I loved my 1995 Nissan Hardbody.
Put 120,000 carefree miles on it in 14 years.
Only reason I sold it was to take advantage
of Obama's Cash for Clunkers.

Got $3,500 on a trade in
for the Nissan that would otherwise
have only sold for $1,500.
People wanting to buy it
would leave notes under the wipers.
One even came up to my front door.

That program only helped people
wealthy enough to buy new vehicles.
Lower income people were hurt by it
because it took perfectly good
used vehicles off the market.

Another favorite
was a 2009 Toyota Tacoma.
My late father bought it during the same
Cash for Clunkers boondoggle.
14 trouble free years later
I sold it to buy my grail,
a Gladiator Rubicon,
which is a mid-size truck.

Looking forward to a handy Slate Truck.
As you can see, I prefer,
to paraphrase the immortal words
of Ricardo Montalban in a 1975 Chrysler ad,
a "precision sized" truck.
I will take a pass on the "rich Corinthian Leather".

Technically, isn’t that a pre-Tacoma era Toyota Truck. Back before the T100 Toyota only had 1 truck and called it a Toyota Truck?

1986 to 1997, the Nissan D21 truck
was nicknamed The Hardbody.
Nissan began using it in their marketing.
Then named the new model the Frontier.

I have a 2010 tundra crewmax. Before that I had a 2000 tundra. I really wanted the 2010 tacoma because the tundra was now way too big. The tacoma was the same size as the old tundra but was in high demand because gas prices were skyrocketing. The tundra was actually cheaper because no one wanted them.

The tundra is a pain to park and I still hit the curb on turns with narrow lanes sometimes. My wife refuses to drive it because it is too big.

Ill probably get the blank slate and my 2 youngest will drive it when they are old enough in 4 and 6 years respectively. When they start driving, Ill see what the market looks like. I would want an electric sprinter van with EREV capability for road trips

I had two of those Toyota trucks, 1985 Toyota RCLB 4x4 22RE Auto, 1986 Toyota RCLB 4x4 22R 5 speed, great trucks, In hindsight I liked the 86 Toyota the best.
