Back and forth, three year old Model Y for $25k with all the bells and whistles.

Or this analog mini truck with nothing for $24,950?

Been burned on other manufacturers on elevated price and or questionable battery tech being faulty, never with Tesla!

Very different vehicles though. I was considering a Tesla until slate came out. I like the utility of the slate and can actually use the bed. They use a well known battery supplier and drivetrain supplier which calms my fears of it being a startup.

Slate, Scout, Rivian, and Jeeps EVs very exciting times.

Almost like 2019 when Tesla and Ford first announced their rival truck EVs.

Who will win this second decade battle?

I want fewer bells and whistles. I want to support Chris Barman, not this guy:

And if it was 2030 and I could buy a 3-year-old used Slate for ~60% of $24,950 = a mere $14,970 (!) or a 3-year-old used Tesla for $25,500, I would 100% buy the Slate. But it's 2026, so we're comparing new apples to used oranges, I've got serious fear of missing out, I've been saying that I want a repairable affordable simple EV for years now, and it's time to put my money where my mouth is!!!

Not Jeep. They are releasing this Recon with 222 miles of range on an over 100 kWh battery with a CCS port rather than NACS. Rivian must be loving that.
