Body Decals in the Maker

So there are some decals in the maker that seem to be examples of what's possible rather than something anyone would actually buy.

Thinking specifically of the "Joist Right Body Decal" or "The Doer Body Decal". You can put those in your design right now and a price is added to your total.

I can only imagine that these are sort of placeholders for custom designs that would be something like those designs. I'd be interested to hear from Slate as to just what those designs are in the Maker for?

I'm probably going to put our ranch brand design on the side of the truck (like you can see in my avatar), perhaps along with our website and phone number. The resulting decal would be something analogous to the Joist Right design but obviously not exactly. So I'm curious if this is a place to add a thing to the Maker that we'll be able to customize prior to production.

I think they are the real deal and not a placeholder. It is a way for you, as an early adopter, to pass along the joke to the wider community. A little bit of an attention getter. Just like the guy at Home Depot I saw last month wearing a "Close Enough" construction company t-shirt whose motto was "Cut twice, measure once"

Think those are the real deal too. Maybe that was an early idea- that people would want to make their slates look like whimsical work trucks.

In any case, I really hope they come up with more stripe decals for the side of the truck. Most of my favorite designs I’ve seen involves a decal on the side, but more colors and stripes that don’t include the name “Slate” would be nice

You can add those and maybe remove different individual parts to make it your own design. Or even combine parts of two of them. If you have the money and some imagination.

I have asked multiple times about getting some of those decal options available in different colors and they always say looking into it.
would be cool if they made a decal you could make by changing the words but keeping the design.
I’m sure eventually they can do that, I’d love it at launch but my guess we see more like that down the road once they get the truck launched successfully.
So much potential for design just adding the right decal instead of a whole wrap.

Any local sign shop, or even many print and copy places like FedEx Office (Kinkos for us old-uns) can cut adhesive vinyl for you. Just need to pick a color and tell them what you want it to say. Nothing special or proprietary about it.

Slate Auto is saying the wrap has special proprietary adhesive.

To my knowledge they haven't said that about the decals, but it stands to reason that the decals may have proprietary adhesive as well.
