The company still exists, so it's only a matter of time until you'll be able to absolutely cover a Slate in the ugliest stick-on chrome accessories you've ever seen.
I looked it up, doesn't seem to be anything like it used to be. Much of their page ends up at carparts.com

Likely a lot, but i plan on doing it for myself either way. Hopefully people are interested though
Impressive, you must have access to a large scale composite shop with huge industrial presses, autoclaves, and walk in ovens. And dust collectors with explosion proof motors. I’m sure you are aware that Carbon fiber dust is highly conductive and when sucked into electrical devices, especially PCs with fans, monitors, and lighting fixtures, it will destroy them. Yea, I’ve been there. Best of luck!

The main reason I'm cheering for the Slate is the idea of getting it into the hands of creative young people. I think it will be endlessly entertaining to see what they do with it.

Our roads could use something more entertaining than an endless succession of CUV/SUV jellybeans in shades of gray and white.
This is part of my goal, make things unique again

While i do have access to some of that stuff at work, the majority of it is not needed for a simple fiberglass mold then a resin infused carbon part off of that mold

Here’s a vid showing what a quality carbon fiber wrap could look like.

Thanks for posting this. Now I’m certain that I’ll be hiring a professional to wrap my Slate.
Not me. I’m going for it. Not in Carbon Fiber though.

Should lose more than $800.00 trying it.

A carbon fiber wrap is going to be harder to wrap right so it looks good, and even that thumbnail shot of the hood shows some of the detail on other vehicles that make it difficult, those multiple curves in the hood for example.
Slate should be much easier.

Imagine JC Whitney catalogs still existing in the era of Slate pickups, what wild stuff would they be selling for it? I hope the Slate gets a strong owners base with full customization in mind and we start seeing some wild builds right off the bat:

When I was 16 and got my first car, a 10 year old bug, I spent almost as much time lusting after every accessory in the JC Whitney catalog as I did reading Playboy.

I had a '61 Beetle with a very similar "wide eye" baja kit, cut off fenders, exposed engine, stinger exhaust, and red/orange/yellow racing stripes. It had oversized rear tires, and was geared down (the cheap way, by swapping for a VW Bus transmission). 1600cc engine, plus 12V conversion kit so it could have a tape deck. Top speed was only about 60mph, but boy it was fun to drive.

Actually a decent example of good off roading capabilities in a RWD - with all the weight on the rear wheels we did get that little thing into some surprising locations in the CO mountains.

Oh, I miss those days... Some people would be surprised what you can build without a press or an autoclave.
If you're just planning on doing a layup on the body panels to make your tooling, you're only scratching the surface. Once we know where the fasteners go, I'm expecting things with all kinds of curves and flares. I'm fine with the straight and boxy shape, but I also want to see people get unique.
