According to a family member who lives in Dallas, the problem they have there isn't snow, it's ice.

Compound that with inexperienced drivers and inappropriate tires and you have a recipe for disaster.
Having lived in DFW for years, this inexperience is deadly. Rain/sleet/ice are all mysterious forces to many there…the rest of us were subject to their ignorance and optimism.

Was just in DFW yesterday, worst drivers ever. They wreck when the wind blows.
I used to joke that if you wanted to stop traffic in July in DFW, simply spit out the window and watch it hit someone else's windshield and all of traffic will slam on the brakes...looking to the sky for rain!

Sure, we drive a bit aggressively in the EssEff Bay Area, but folks were laying on their horns even with a few car lengths given during my lane changes. Sissies. LOL

It's a different anxiety out there...not as many handguns though.

I wonder how AWD EVs perform in deep sand or snow. I’m thinking of my Subaru, which lacked a transfer case. It would start to get hot when the snow was deep enough to push against the bumper. I’m talking about miles of driving in those conditions, where traditional 4x4 vehicles handled it better.

Should be plenty of northern folk with AWD Teslas, Rivians, Lightnings, etc to chime in? (I'm in GA. We don't have much of the Devil's Dandruff.)

The retro AWD kit might be a doozy to install, but sounds like an interesting project

After the newest interview. I would wager to guess that they probably won't offer a kit.
I still feel hopeful that we might be able to get a front motor from a wrecked future model and retrofit it in. Not easy but maybe possible.
