I didn't see anything written about it here. Anyone know if there is a time period where one would have to keep their Slate before they sold it? Or if it is even permicible?

This is interesting. Someone can reserve/order a fleet, rent them out, and sell them later.

If the idea of the Slate is to be the lowest-priced pickup on the market, why would anyone pay extra to a reseller trying to flip their Slate for a profit?

Time is money. Someone who is hot for one might pay a premium to get one earlier than the date they were assigned. Who knows?

With the Cybertruck and others, the very-briefly-alive flipping market was content creators.

Assuming that Slate does not make a fleet of Slates available to content creators and journalists (they've given every indication they will), and assuming there is a demand for Slate content to match the Cybertruck, and assuming the flipper gets a truck deliverred the first month of sales, then yes, there might be a market where day one Slate buyers can flip their trucks to aforementioned content creators. Because in the content creator world, the firstest to the screen gets the most views. Zach on TFL talked about this in one of his "how does our business work" videos.

That market evaporates fast. Cybertrucks that flipped for over $150,000 are now going for under $50,000. The flipping market was brief but real.

There was a hot market for more than a year where Maverick hybrid owners flipped their rides for significant profits. Some bought more than one. They all bragged about it tediously over on the Maverick forum. It pissed everyone else off, and left a lot of bad blood. But hey, capitalism, right?

Hey I'm not advocating flipping, or flipping Slates in particular. Just pointing out that there might be a very short window in which somebody can flip their Slate. It may not ever exist. If it does, it will be mercifully short.

The market segment that would make early Flipping profitable are probably not interested in the Slate. That group tends more toward new exotic luxury vehicles.

The only Flippers would be a small market of customers who like extremely modified tricked out vehicles. Think celebrities who like custom rides and the small number of models shops who would support that group.

Except, Slate prospective owners are cheap asses (why else would we want an inexpensive, no-thrills pickup truck where price is a priority - i.e. me). I think the prospective buyers who are "hot for a Slate" have already reserved and will get their truck sooner rather than later.

Some people have more money than sense, and I don't very much like scalpers. I'm going to be no where near an early delivery. I will say, though, if someone was willing to pay for my blank slate enough to cover the accessories and upgrades I want, I'd sell in a heartbeat. Buy again and have enough to get it up to the setup I want. That sounds great.
Will never happen. I'm probably like reservation 155,000-ish. Hahahahaha

Another potential market - non US. Ship a container full of to Canda or elsewhere not Slate serviced initially. No, not me, I fall into the cheap*ss crowd on that one.

Yes, and in fact when the Cybertruck first came out I recall that Tesla stated that buyers could not resell their Cybertrucks within the first year of ownership. If someone violated that rule, Tesla reserved the right to seek damages from the profit made, and / or block future orders from that buyer. This restriction was later dropped, but it nevertheless revealed Tesla's firm position on reselling.

it would depend on how long it holes its value be unless the scalper pays full price lets say $25,000 for now they would then need to find a buyer who would pay &25,001+ to make a profit but even if dealers where to buy a slate in this way they would face severe civil and brand-related penalties, largely driven by contract law and manufacturer policies not to mention the fact that as the old saying goes once its off the lot it is loosing valve now could they inflate the price yes but if a new one is only 2k or 5k more why not just get new
