Just a guess, but at 90mph, range would probably be about 100 mi on a full charge for the Slate. My 23 EUV loses about 25 - 30 miles of range for every 10 mph increase above 55 mph--more if there's a head wind. Aerodynamics seem a much bigger factor for EVs.

Yes sad most EVs selling points are still rated at 55MPH when it’s has been 65-80MPH for decades.

Could charge up my MY to 220 miles, drive 90 miles to the service center at 80MPH and would have 6-8 miles left upon arrival.

*Yes healthy battery, just the wind, hills and traffic don’t like EV mileage estimating computers.

Last time I did 90mph in a car I did not realize I was going that fast. Yes it was in my Equinox EV. Even though it is limited to 93mph, 90 was effortless to achieve. It weighs about 1000 pounds more than the Slate and has about 30 more hp.

My wife has a VW iD.4 RWD. It has a 150kW motor and a 7.5 second 0-60. It feels very peppy in normal driving and keeps power on tap for freeway acceleration even with its 99 mph top speed. I haven’t hit the governor in it, but at 80+ it’s happy to accelerate so I’m guessing the Slate will be very similar. I tow about 1500 pound with it commonly too. No problem accelerating or stopping.

I’ve seen 118mph in my EV6, but that’s about the limit. I definitely don’t run it that fast for more than a passing move. On a Slate, 90 mph is more than adequate.

Had a maverick hybrid. Sold to buy Slate
I'm hoping a reviewer this fall will give us 0-30 time. I bet the slate would do well against ice vehicles there.

My wife's Leaf is similar. I have to watch the speedometer because the car is so quiet and smooth that it messes with my intuition about how fast I'm going.

If you ever plan to drive faster than 90, you’re asking for it. Those fat**s trucks on the 85 mph stretches in TX are taking other people’s lives into their tiny hands. I would rather let them get the F past me so I don’t have to maneuver around them.

Don’t think I would wish to go above 70 in a Slate, something might fall off.
You know this is a Slate forum, but sure; you can talk trash about the Slate's assembly all you want (despite all available evidence that it's held together with a metal frame and actual fasteners).

At least if something falls off, you can put it back on for free with basic hand tools. Maybe torque it properly, if your implied skill issues can manage.

Sounds like you need a real truck for Texas highways!

I assume the plural use of "highways" here, while grammatically normal, actually means that it straddles two lanes at once.

That truck is still brick-shaped, you're just using even more energy and paying for gas when you ram it against wind resistance at 90mph. Hey, it's your money.

Some big trucks may not be as fast as you think;

GMC trucks have factory-programmed speed governors (top speed limiters) typically set between 98 mph and 115 mph. The exact limit depends on your specific model, engine, wheel size, and the speed rating of the factory-installed tires.

Top Speed Limits
  • 98 mph: Common on trucks with 18-inch wheels and standard all-season or off-road tires.
  • 105 to 115 mph: Common on higher trims (like the AT4 or Denali) equipped with 20-inch or 22-inch wheels and higher-rated tires.

About 99.99% certain my Slate will never see 90 mph. My Tundra hasn’t, wife’s Ascent hasn’t.
I've seen 90 mph while on the runway in a jumbo jet. And I suppose I've watched people in F1 and NASCAR vehicles (and just recently, the Pikes Peak hill climb) go 90 and more on TV. I've never seen it in a car.

Well, I suppose a few of the most reckless morons in the left lane on the highway might have blown my doors off at 90, it certainly feels like that sometimes...

I've posted about it before but the highway I have to take routinely hits 80+, so as long as the Slate isn't screaming away at 90 I have no issue welding the truck to the floor and keeping it there.

People drive crazy fast on the highways here, but it's also very wide and flat and the DOT loves making big sprawling 5 x 5 monster highways so it's hard to blame them.
