Thats awesome. I’d like to be 100% off grid…solar, geothermal, etc. A Slate would make sense in that ecosystem if you get enough electrons moving around!
Some of my friends tease me about my system size. 18.4 kw 64PV, 16 kw Inverters, 57 kw LiFePo batteries.

Publicly they claim to be committed to 100% renewable energy, but then 7/1 was start date of new EV roaduse tax.
As for me, I live off grid, solar electric generation and my intent is never to have to buy charging.
Last year when I visited Kona and Oahu, the public charging seemed very sparse (compared to So Calif).

Most were Tesla Superchargers in the Waikiki area.

Are there plans to get more charging stations on the islands ?

How is the NEVI funding going to affect the new Tritium stations ?

Believe Tesla chargers only on Oahu at this point. Almost rented a Tesla 2 years ago, but closest charger was too far from Hotel. We have a handful chargers on the Big Island, Kona, Waimea, Hilo.
I don’t follow any of the funding initiatives, such as farce. Kinda like the rural internet. I live off grid, love my Starlink. I can see the tower through the trees where fiber runs. Hounded by the telcom that I could get for free installation. Tech arrived and laughed. Then they queried if I was going to accept the $52,000 contract to run line to my property. But according to the tracking parmeters Internet is available.

Cumming. One of my practice sites is not far from Chamblee though. Spent a lot of time around CDC back in the day, so you could say I know the area!

What is their electricity made?

Google says:
“Hawaii primarily relies on imported petroleum for its electricity generation, with over 70% of its power coming from this source. While renewable energy sources like solar, wind, and geothermal are being developed, they currently account for a smaller percentage of the total electricity produced.”

So, they might not give a rip whether the imported petroleum is going into Tacomas or making electrons for Slates?
That's rather worse than I expected. I'd expect that at a minimum several years ago they would have wanted all new power capacity to come from renewable and gradually be bringing it up, to reduce dependence on tankers of fuel coming in. There should be abundant availability of all 3 sources.
All states are adding EV road use fees to registration, because they need to replace money made on gas tax that goes to roads.

Wife’s orthopedic surgeon (M. Hogan, he put raggedy ann back together) was there. Always hoped he’d get to visit us here. My wife was his patient 1998-2005. We lived pretty close to PDK airport.

We’ll make the pilgrimage to see you sometime @sodamo! That might throw off my savings plan for the Slate, though?

True, kinda a mess.
yes, they have a 100% renewable goal.
each county controls the building/permit process, hampering making solar more doable, supposedly getting better.
the major power company has been an impediment saying infrastructure can’t handle excess solar, but improving
windfarms have their problems
geothermal on our island is a political nightmare with significant local activists fighting it on cultural grounds.
a major plant on our island was converted to burn wood, of course that wood is transported by big diesel trucks over miles of 2 lane highway.
and of course our politicians only support what benefits them in some way.

That’s why it is a pilgrimage, brother! Not a weekend junket! (I did the touristy Honolulu and Kauai trips decades ago.).

We will bring gloves and boots.
